in Maine we don't get our plates at the dealer...the dealer gives us a 14 day temp plate and a certificate that showes we paid the sales tax..after the 14 days we have to go to the town office and pay excise tax to register it...that is when we order the vanity plate...we will gat another temp plate to use until the vanity plate comes in....we are not going to register our car now tho...our 14 day temp plate runs out today and we won't register it untiil April....it will be a lot cheaper to do it that way...it would cost about 12 hundred bucks to register it now and about 9 hundred bucks in April...we won't use the car this winter anyway so why spend the extra money for nothing...we can buy floor mats and do a bunch of other mods with the money we save

Yahoo!! I hit 3800 today and already have my VIN. Now, it would be awesome to have it in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

not sure if every state has the excise tax....it is an anual yearly thing but it decreses in amount as the vehicle gets older and is of less value..my 86 GMC truck now costs only about 85 bucks a year and it will not go any lower
