Dealers Bashing Dealers...Why?
Hopefully this post won't get me in trouble, that is not the intent.....
I was just curious... As a successful business person who has made a very good living in a franchised industry, I can't help but wonder why Dealers on this site continue to bash other dealers. I can understand If a customer has an issue or bad experience with a dealer, he has every right to make that info available to others so they don't fall into the same trap. What I don't understand, is why a dealer who is in the Business of selling the same Brand of auto would bash another dealer. I have seen it over and over again. In my business, we Franchisee's stick together and help each other out with the hopes the favor will be returned someday. No matter what we think of the individual or the operator we still stick together to promote our brand and take care of our customers. I personally don't see what there is to gain by bashing your fellow, what I would call " Team Mate". I have never bought anything from anybody that wanted me to buy something from them because they said the other guy was no good. How about telling me why you are better than them instead of telling me they are no good. Seems Ironic... What a sales pitch...Your Dealer is an Idiot buy from me. Well, for what its worth, I would like to take the time to give my Dealer a shout out and commend him for the way he has taken care of me and my friends. I have, and will ...continue to purchase lots of vehicles from a great dealer who doesn't make a living bashing his Fellow " Team Mates". Great Job.... Ken Nelson Auto Plaza Dixon, Illinois You guys are an Honnest ,hard working, group of people who go above and beyond to take care of your customers without saying one negitive word about the Company you Represent or anybody else for that matter. You are to be commended for your up front, no BS, no dealer Bashing, way of doing business. I know of no other industry that bashes it's fellow Comrads and gets away with it...not alone the ethics behind such a sales pitch. Anyway..Just wanted to get that in there. Before I get Flamed...I am a proud life Long GM owner. I have bought too many to count and I have no intention of switching brands, ever. Just get tired of all the negative comments being made about other dealers as if they think they are better... Don't confuse a dealer who can get you a car fast, with a good dealer. Getting the car is just the first part...Building a relationship with a dealer that will take care of you as long as you are buying cars sure seems like the way to go to me. JMHO I think it's best to let the customers make there own informed decisons based on Customer feed back Not other dealers bashing their comrads. Team work always seems to prevail over individualism... JMHO and I am not pointing any fingers, this is just a General statement and a good Honnest effort at giving My dealer the KUDOS they deserve ! Great Job Ken Nelson...Proud to be your Customer ! Great Job GM...I love your vehicles....Especially My Camaro's Just my own thoughts... as always, you are entitled to your own. That is what makes this country GREAT! Last edited by carguy; 11-18-2009 at 09:50 AM. |

Interesting...
I see nothing but respect among the regular dealers that frequent these boards. I think that Camaro Scotty and Eric from Classic are great guys and their customers love them! There are a few others here too that have lots to offer. Now I have to go looking through posts and see what you're talking about. I've been busy and haven't been on much the last two days. Or, feel free to post a link. I am curious! |

Not pointing fingers (As I said in My post)... and I am sure this is not the majority. .
This is a General observation of my own, based on the time I have been on This Forum reading Posts. It is only my Opinion.....That is all. It's not worth squat... And as I also mentioned in my post, I just wanted to give a shout out to a bunch of, what I would consider ,a very good group of people that have worked real hard a taking care of me. Well deserved I think. There are many on this Forum That I am sure are great Dealers... I have never dealt with them, so I woudn't know. I know many have been a great help along the way. Thank You to them as well. I am just all about the Positive not the Negative so maybe I am a little too sensative to what I have read along the way. Again..Just my opinion....as always You are entitled to yours. Hopefully all your and everybody elses customers will pay them the same respect...I think that is GREAT! This is not a witch hunt, just a general observation Made by me correct or not it is still only my opinion. |

I haven't seen really any of that on here expect for your other thread about the 2010 camaros being sold out which was a joke. And I would react this way as a dealer if someone like you came on to a public fourm and posted incorrect information as you did and say it came from your dealer. The point they were trying to make wasn't to bash your dealer ,but to let you know that if that's what your dealer told you then his was wrong.
You say you don't want to cause trouble ,but your threads sure have a good way of doing just that. Last edited by coolman; 11-18-2009 at 11:12 AM. |

Some people like to stir the pot. After yesterday you would think someone would give IT a rest.

![]() There has been way too much misinformation over the last 13 months...and when there is, my phone usually rings. (and many others) It's not about being "hungry", or "better", it's about being CORRECT. Misinformation from one source make a lot of work for other dealerships because it can cause some customers to "panic". It has happened several times before on this forum. Being a dealer that makes good relationships and provides proper production information, tend to get higher Customer Survey scores - that's exactly why ours EXCEEDED National, Region and Zone average scores. |

I'm not a dealer, but I have done a lot of work in both customer service and sales, so I speak from experience when I tell you that your dealer is an idiot. In fact, I think that everyone should be thoroughly aware that your dealer is probably as incompetent as you at your job. Without the traditional bashing that I've done on this subject, I'll simply point out that dealers, with few exceptions, consistently reinforce their awful identity as sleazy individuals with an addiction to high-pressure sales and confrontational business tactics. There are good dealers out there, and I'm happy to say that several of them belong to this very site, but the ones that don't have access to the plethora of information available in car communities like this one are fatally incompetent, stupid, and, sadly, going to stay employed as long as buyers are stupid enough to believe what they say.
Basically, dealers are competing for you to show up. Once you show up, they have a very strong probability of you trying to buy something. This isn't like a grocery store. Buying a car at a Chevy dealer is not like buying a box of Wheaties. When you're at the supermarket, you can see most of your popular options right there. At a Chevy dealer, you just see Chevrolets. In order to see a better offer on the same car, you have to go to another Chevy dealer. In order to see a similar dealer on an alternative car, you have to travel to another company's dealership. Your dealer's lack of product knowledge generally leaves them telling you all sorts of ridiculous information that is either completely untrue or outdated by years. In fact, for as frequently as I've posted the same few words of advice reminding people that "your dealer is an idiot," I should post even more frequently that their buyers are even dumber in so many cases. Rather than checking facts, they take the fool's word for truth. Rather than comparing products, they buy the first one they like because it looks cute, has leather seats, or is available on the lot. When you go to the local furniture store, you don't spend $30k on a cute leather chair that is sitting on the lot, yet that same logic will compel a phenomenally stupid buyer to purchase something dozens of times the price of a decent La-Z-Boy. Why are dealers fighting? They're fighting because each of the good ones has to compete with each of the stupid ones, and there aren't enough buyers with brains to know the difference.

I only see customer to dealer bashing. (With good reason almost all of the time) 99% of the dealers that post on here are class acts all the way.
