I agree. N2 is a marketing gimmick. Over the years I routinely put 50-60K miles on tires with plain "air" (78% N2). Keeping the proper tire inflation pressure has a much greater effect on tread life than nitrogen could even have.

I work for Costco. It is free for all members. You just have to goto tire center and wait. It is first come first serve. All Costcos have this.

Cool destoyer4, thanks! Now, is it a total refill - exchange what's in the tire by emptying it out and refill - or is it just topping off?
Then the question comes, how often should you do this? If I lose a couple pounds every couple weeks, and I fill it with regular air, how often should I go back to get the entire tire refilled with nitrogen? Thanks, Michael J.

You asked how often you would get them filled.....you check them often and you fill them when they are low Theres not a set time frame

I don't think you're getting my question, and I'm sure I'm not being clear enough...when they need to be refilled - whenever that is - do I go back for Nitrogen refill/top off, or is it fine to just fill then with regular air. If that's the case (regular air), then how often should I go back to refill them with nitrogen?
Make sense?

If youve got a nitrogen fill you should always add nitrogen, adding regular air will just "contaminate" your tire and youll negate the effects of nitrogen youre trying to benfit from. If youre truly concerned with getting the most out of a nitrogen filled tire, it should be kept at at least 95%nitrogen fill, and since very few places fill to anymore more than 96-97% purity adding any air will be drop you below that 95% area. And of course lets not forget that air/oxygen is going to migrate into the tire no matter what you do anyway, so again we are back at nitrogen fill being a purely marketing based idea, and the discussions almost putely academic because so many of the benefits are very hard to quantify or worse, non existnet for some folks If its free, USE IT, of course, its free. If you have to pay for it or go out of your way, its not worth it imo.

Ok, thanks That makes good sense...We'll see how long it takes them to fill - what kind of lines I have to wait in. Tomorrow...maybe

Hey Maven, I don't know what area your located in but in Brooklyn NY its $50 bucks to join Emil's tire shop for a lifetime of Nitro, checks and refills if necessary. $100 bucks is way out of line. I agree. I am filling my tires once I get to AZ for the $30 bucks and opnce I drive back to NY if the tires dont hold the pressure then I probably will go back to normal air. Just curious and figured $30 bucks can't hurt me and if the tires hold up once I'm back then I'll know for sure Nitro is good or just a waste. Take care and enjoy that Camaro !!!

My dealership does nitrogen, so my tires had nitrogen from day 1. My dealership will refill my tires if needed for free. I dont notice any difference from air to nitrogen. This is my first vehicle with nitrogen filled tires. The only problem I have with it is if one of my tires is running low, I have to go to my dealership, very inconvenient.

If your tires were filled from day 1 you shouldn't really need to go back to the dealership for quite a long time depending on your driving habits. Good luck with your new "C"

well, I got an alert from onstar about my tire pressures, recommended for the Pirelli's is 36PSI, and I'm currently at like 30PSI, because of the cold weather. I said something about going to get some in my tires, and my brothers were like, its only because its cold outside, if you go fill them up now, when it heats up in the spring you'll be over the recommended PSI.
What should I do? Should I go get some more nitrogen in the tires? First sight of snow, i'm putting this thing away for the winter.
