Really just trying to prove a point
k and n drop in let my car go from full boost at 2500 to about 2100 rpms. I know what your saying, but they do make a difference.

removing weight is a mod = not stock.

tire pressure is all opinion anyways. Some people will say that dropping tire pressure on a street tire will hurt performance, others say it will help. Atleast with tire pressure it is debatable whether it even helps.

Stock = no changes from factory setting or specifications. For better or worse.

This shouldn't be that hard. Most people only care to make some stock track passes or dyno runs and then begin modifications.

To include the laminated card sticking from most people's glovebox warning you of the airbag system and the use of car-seats.
last I checked that card actually is a gravity effected object. It weighs something.
Remove it, and bam - not stock.

To inlcude factory settings on the radio? lol... that is a bit much, but it is different than the factory settings, or tire pressure specifications?

So then there is no such thing as a stock car with more then 5000 miles? People do have to change oil as routine maintenance along with filters and other lubricants and plugs/wires. IMO the only way to change a car from stock is to actually remove a bolt or fastener in order to replace a component. This is why mild mods are called bolt-on's.

I believe lowering tire pressure is not a mod but enhances traction thus making it fall out of bone stock catagory.

It's not a mod but it makes it fall out of the stock category?

According to these ridiculous, perfect standard of being considering stock, then probably not one person on these forums in stock. Or better yet, probably no one on any track ever has ran stock before.

So if he changed from Goodyear, to Bridgestone, etc. It Should make no difference.
If he changed his air FILTER to a different brand, no biggie
If he changed his OIL to a different brand, that is what 99% of everyone does.

K&N marketed fuel economy and HP, Royal Purple markets HP increase.

So now when it is time to replace common worn parts or fluids on your car, you aren't allowed to go with certain off the shelf items, because you won't be "stock" anymore.

When you return a leased vehicle you supposed to return it to stock form, I am fairly certain, they wouldn't make you swap out your 50 dollar oil change for a 20 dollar oil change before turning it in.

Some people have false fantasies of modifications that "help" in the 1/4 mile.

This is exactly why we make fun of "ricers"..

Yo man.. I just put a K&N filter on my car,and the sticker, I just got 20 FWHP. I then changed to Mobile One oil-- I cut .5 seconds off my 1/4 mile yo!

I'm thinking about removing my spare tire, and I will have my otherwise stock Honda civic in the 13s. And if I get a new muffler I'll be close to the 12s yo....

I honestly thought that most people realized that those modifications have minimal to no measurable effect on 1/4 miles.
IN all actuality track prep, and track conditions, HAVE MUCH more to do with .1 or .2 than those "modifications".

Next thing you will hear, is oh yeah, well so and so ran with a Negative DA-- so his time isn't real, or don't count as the Bone stock time.
LOl i agree +1

Man I thought the cobalt forums were bad, camaro owners are real bad. Do any of you guys in here really even goto the track? If you did you would know what type of difference these things make. Even with my slicks I will spin them at 15psi but hook like crazy at 12 psi.
