Camaro Road Trip

We're planning a road trip with our new SS and will be driving from Bellingham, WA to Salt Lake City, back up through Yellowstone to Sandpoint ID and back to Bellingham. Looking for good restaurants, points of interest (wife is photographer), good routes and ideas about what might help make this road trip memorable. Three weeks underway total with a few days driving and a few days just vegging out. New territory for me, so I don't want to miss too much!

when going through Jackson Wyoming you will past the Elk refudge, from there you will be driving along the Grande Tetons on the way to Yellostone....these will take your breath away and plenty of stops to take pics. Once in Yellowstone there will be Bison everywhere depending if you can get through, check road conditions. Once in Yellowstone you have to go to Lamar Valley. This time of year you will have a great chance to see the Wolves, Bison, Elks and whole knows...anything can happen in Yellowstone. Enjoy!

The Teton Mountain Lodge in Teton Villiage is awesome. Great rooms, good room service, and a jacuzi tub with a thousond jets. Don't forget the mountain man museum in Pinedale. Flaming Gorge is just south of there and a good place to turn back West towards Utah. Definitely check the road conditions. You might get a suprise snow storm.

Edit - If you can make it to Cody Wy. There is the Wild Bill Cody museum. Totally incredible museum of western art and history.

Thanks! Good to know....I forgot to mention, we're going in June, so wx shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'll see how far Cody is from our route/timeline.

Great thread AK Mike! The road trip you are planning is exactly the reason I bought my Camaro. I live for the opportunity of a good road trip (why I live near Oly. Pen.). I'm originally from DF/W but Live in Western WA now. Been traveling the highways and roads in between since I was 9 yrs old. Love the West!

Great sounding road trip. I am moving to Anchorage (military move) at the end of March, and planning to drive the car from NW Florida all the way up. Will have 3 days on the fairy at Bellingham. 4700 total miles.

If you're on the ferry for only 3 days, you must be going to Haines? If so, you'll have another 2 days of driving through Canado to get to Anchorage...can be a bit rough in March...hopefully, you're going cross-Gulf to Whittier or Seward? You've got a great PCS move coming!

One of the big reasons for us to get the Camaro was road tripping also! It's pretty tough for us to road trip; costs bucks just to get to the road!! We still haven't seen alot of the west and we're getting old, so gotta get rolling!

Yep based on the time frame for the move we will be going into Haines. We are on the fairy on 26 -29 Mar so hopefully the road will be clear for the last 2 days of the drive.

Make sure you see Grand Teton National Park in addition to Yellowstone. Absolutely beautiful country! We visited the parks in the summer of 2008. The first 8 pics are of Grand Teton National Park and the rest are of Yellowstone. Make sure you have lunch or dinner in the historic Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone. Great food inside the historic "parkitecture" building. You can also combine a great horseback ride with a chuckwagon style dinner at Yellowstone. Just go to http://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm for all the info you need on Yellowstone NP and http://www.nps.gov/grte/index.htm for all the info on Grand Teton NP. Enjoy your trip! The roads out there are perfect for your Camaro! By the way, we went in June so this is what it will look like when you go.
