Well it obvious most of the GTO owners on this board have a huge defensive shield up.
I've always thought the GTO looked like a Cavilier from the side, more so than the front end. GTO reminds me of that horrible Cadillac they made in the late 90s- Catera. Or the early 2000s Jaguar that looked like a contour with a jag head lights. Some cars simply disappoint in the looks department. I give 100% Kudos to the interior. I think interior is as grade A (for a Pontiac) and probably a Grade B over all. I give the Exterior a Grade C for Pontiac and about the same for cars in general. If you don't like my G8, I won't be mad, It's just an opinion. But me and all my buddies at the time, would talk cars, we would salivate over owning a Vette, Or a WS6 or SS. Or a Mach 1. Or 03/04 Cobra. When the GTO came up-- it was the same thing for everyone. Man, I wish that car didn't look like a Cavalier. Interior is nice, car has great power, but I want something alittle more aggressive looking. ________ FREEPORN Last edited by jrc1122; 03-11-2011 at 11:46 PM. |

Key word is concept hood- Often times concepts look better than the final product. PS someone actually made a hood like that for his G8 on our G8board.com and I don't really care for it very much. PPS- Not same hood, just similar hood scoops. Different lines. ________ Toyota 1/X History Last edited by jrc1122; 03-11-2011 at 11:46 PM. |

Well a fact you seem to discredit is that the Camaro has been out for 10 months, not 5 years. Look at the trap speeds. At the track with my own experience I have seen stock Camaros get to 12.9-12.8 with an average driver. The GTO's are 13.3-13.2 with an average driver. If want to base times only on records where everything is perfect and all the cards line up then you have to give the Camaro at least a couple years. It seems your logic is keyboard bench racing at it's finest.

You just for some reason can not admit that the LS2 GTO vs Camaro SS both in stock form is going to come down to the drivers. Bench racing? Nah just giving you back your own argument. I race in the real world... a dollar says a lot more then you do. |

Ok then let's put this argument to bed finally and answer the original question. Which is the faster car? No BS, no excuses.
Based on records which car in stock form is faster? As of right now Camaro by 2 lengths, correct? |

^ There are too many variables to tell which. For one, what was the wind speed/Direction during the time of the pass, what was the track temp/prep, weight of driver, etc.................
they way i took the orginal question is which would win in a race. i.e. i pull up to a stop light in my stock 2010 rs/ss next to a Stock Ls2 GTO who will win??? answer: Better Driver takes the Checkers!! comparing records to records has no justice at all. The GTO record couldve been set with a 20 mph tail wind, while the Camaro record was set with a 35 mph tail wind, Vise Versa. If you want to see Car times Comparing the Same 60', Temp, Tail Wind, Track Prep, etc.... Use the 1/4mile Calc I posted earlier with the dyno numbers from my STOCK GTO (even had the Stock Bridgestones) and the other Stock Camaro on Lingenfelters Dyno. (yes i know there are variables here such as weather, tire pressure, strapping etc but this is why LPE use SAE corrected graphs to help level the variables) I believe the numbers for the 2010 M6 SS camaro was 368rwhp. My M6 Gto was 355 Rwhp

SO you are trying to say the LS2 was under rated in respect to the LS3. The stock numbers show at least a 26 hp difference.
I have seen a lot of LS2 dynos of less than 350. I have seen stock camaros in the 380's. I have also seen stock M6 numbers as low as the 350's. Same dyno same day with back to back pulls USUALLY the camaro would have about a 30rwhp advantage. (now go ahead and post a bunch of links and try to disprove this with a bunch of info skewed in your favor) You calculator is nice. But doesnt say much. Either way we are grasping at straws again. Look at the Facts. 12.6 faster than 12.8. Car has not been out long. a 12.4 or 12.5 is in the cards with this car given its trap speed. Wait till a nice experienced driver runs his again next winter when it is nice and loosened up. Can we just end this anyways? everyone has gotten a point of view off more than one time. Same arguments over and over again. This will never end. |

all i was saying was that MY GTO and the LPE Camaro were both on the same Dyno with SAE Correction Factor figured in! you can't compare Apples to Oranges with just drag times from 2 completely different tracks on 2 completely different days. The questions wasnt WHO has the Best Record So FAR in 1/4mile GTO/Camaro. It was who would win in a Race. The Answer has been posted: The Better Driver! It doesnt say if its a Roll Race, Dig Race, 1/8 mile race, top speed race, 0-60 race, and the list goes on!
The closest Apples to Oranges comparison you have for right now would be with THOSE Dyno Numbers (The Dyno hasnt changed at lingenfelter for the last 8 or so years, correct me Jeff/kevin if im wrong) and the Calc. Even then there are still variables. I could post videos of GTO's beating 5th gens, and you could post videos of 5th gens beating LS2 GTO's. Then we'd be back to Royal Purple oil, Not stock Tires, He/She is a shit driver etc............... what ur saying is the Camaro is new and will get better 1/4 times yet! (which i hope it does) But, i could argue that the LS2 GTO is a rare car so hasnt had a valid chance to make alot of Quality track passes do to less owners frequently taking them to the strip. Do ya get what im sayin???

Yes AS OF RIGHT NOW the Camaro, and i believe 2 tenths would be about 3 lengths.

GTO hasn't had a valid chance to make a lot of track passes? You're kidding right? Yes, the GTO is more rare (40,000 units sold over 3 years), but guys have been running their GTOs (at a high percentage) for 5 years at the track. The GTOs have a huge head start when it comes to time spent at the track. |
