Opinions on Your Axel-back
I want to get an axel-back for my LS3 Camaro but DON'T want to hack it up. Incase I have to sell it I don't want it to be a hassle, as I will do all the install and un-install IF NEEDED???
I saw an SLP loudmouth on a new Camaro today at the Chicago Auto show and it looked great. Are there any quality issues with SLP? I really don't like a 426hp Camaro that sounds like a V6. I am considering the Loudmouth II. Will it sound much louder? I have been on the web for days listening to sound clips everywhere. I would just like opinions and ideas from people who have already done this. Thankyou. J.D. |

Get the SLP Loud Mouth 2...you wont be disappointed. Sounds great and the quality is great. The tips are second to none. Install was very easy. Took about one hour. Look at my photos.
Here's my sound clip from youtube. It seems that the video recordings never really capture the true sound. I had a lot of problems when I was looking and trying to determine which system to get based on what I heard on the web. I listened on youtube every night and still was undecided. In the long run I am very happy with the choice I made now.

I REALLY appreciate your time.
I have looked ALOT where I live and can't find a shop with any REAL exhaust skills. I will probably just get the SLP Loudmouth II and install myself. I just need to find a garage to do it in??? I was considering the Loudmouth system, but DON'T want a Popping, Bubbling, Birping Ricer sound. How much louder is the SLP II vs. Stock LS3? I have listened to many Youtube videos but still can't decide. Thanks again, and anymore ideas let me know. J.D. Your video is great, and I LOVE how the tips stick out further over OEM. |

I started with a LM II, easy to install yourself, 20lbs lighter and sounds louder than stock but not obnoxious. Later you can do this..... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58363

Unless I win the lotto I won't be doing all you have. I wonder if I should get the SLP Loudmouth originals without mufflers? I WANT my LS3 to sound like an LS3, If the Loudmouth II is only a LITTLE louder then stock, I WON'T BE HAPPY with it. I want a quality sounding exhaust that WILL make a difference in sound. I am TIRED of hearing SO MANY Mustang GT's where I live that sound OH SO AWESOME...

Have you considered going with the SOLO Mach-X? It's a little more but it's a cat-back not an axle-back so you should pick up a little more performance with it. The cat-back is an easy install. If you can do an axle-back you can do a cat-back. 4 bolts to take off the center brace which you can do by hand. 4 more bolts (I think 2 on each side...may be 4 on each side) to disconnect the exhaust from the cats. Pull back to get it off the cats, then down to clear the cats, then go forward to take it off the rubber hangers. Then you'll basically do the same in reverse order to put one on.
LMII or SOLO are both going to sound good. It's just a matter of using the axle-back vs paying a little more for a cat-back. You won't go wrong with either system though.

Dont waste your money on a Loudmouth. Nobody is going to care if the car has chopped mufflers or not, because the car is still quiet with the rest of it being factory. I had my factory mufflers removed with straight pipes using the factory tips for $100 out the door. Axle backs are pure rape and rip-offs. They dont do anything performance wise. $400 for a different sound is a waste IMO.
Trust me with this car anybody really looking to buy a used camaro is looking for a cheap performance car rather than a quite sport coupe. Nobody is going to miss them. |

Thankyou VERY much for replying.
The main PROBLEM I have is NOBODY around me knows JACK about exhaust. I had 3 Acura TL's and a 2007 TL Type-S and everywhere I went they either tried to talk me out of doing any mods, OR wanted to charge HUGE amounts for a couple welds. On my most recent 2006 Manual 6-speed Completely MODDED TL I ordered a custom BOLT-ON catback from Japan and installed it myself, but it was in the spring, not during winter. I want a system which requires NO WELDING and I MUST be able to install myself. I CAN'T BELIEVE living close to Chicago IL and having NO LUCK finding an OLD SKOOL shop nearby to do my welding. really PISSES ME OFF. Thanks again, any other recommendations on a NO-WELD do-it-yourself system that doesn't cost more then $600 is what I am looking for. Thanks again. Jeff D. 1 EXAMPLE= I finally found a place to JUST replace a center resonator with a Summit resonator cost me $150. Thats SICKENING. This was last summer b4 I put on the $1500 Japan Catback on my TL. Which I tradded in on my 2SS/RS LS3 |

If you're budget is $600 and you want something you can bolt-on so you can possibly remove it for resale I'd go with Magnaflow part # 16580. It's the comp series Cat-Back which utilizes a resonated x-pipe and it's muffler delete out back with 5" tips! It is just over your budget for a full cat-back that is made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty!
With factory exhaust manifolds and converters this system sounds awesome! The tru resonated x-pipe makes a large difference is tone quality as well as performance which you wouldn't get with the axle-back. If sound is the main driver I'd suggest Magnaflow part # 16582 which is the Comp Series Axle-Back and our price is a couple hundred below your budget on that system, you could even remove the factory H-Pipe and resonators and use Magnaflow part # 11386 but at that point I'd go cat-back. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. Have a good one and good LUCK! ![]() Kind regards, |

I do like the sound of the full catback with 5" tips-looks AWESOME. Not sure if I will find a job b4 unemployment runs out makes me nervous about spending $1k on a full catback. If I knew a place to jack my car up safely I might consider it, but thats not the case. |

Sound is a personal choice, but ease of installation, two cuts with a sawzall and no welding, the GMPP Offroad exhaust worked for me. With the same clamps the originals could be put back on.

Our prices are closer to $6** for the Magnaflow Comp Series Cat-Back including shipping so it really isn't too bad. I totally understand where you're coming from for sure! Our Comp Series axle-back option is over $200 under your budget including shipping! I can't post pricing but let me know if you're interested. Have a good one and I'll talk to you soon! ![]() Kind regards, |

maybe not. I still only have about 1/2 that in mine right now although I might have to drop another $100 to have my welds re-done. Can you PM with your price on the Comp Series cat-back.
