I don't think so, I've researched this car since last June/July and I've been wanting it ever since. I finally got a chance to test drive one last month and it was amazing, even though the test track the salesman took us to only had swerves and curves and were only 15 mph too ... soI couldn't really "push the pedal to metal". >_<....oh and btw im not buying til im 18 which is, as you can see from my profile, 5 months away!

Taking your time to evaluate and consider a major purchase like an automobile makes sense but when your car shopping time is measured in something more than months it's simply looking at cars for fun. There's nothing wrong with looking at cars for fun though, particularly Camaros.

Doing research any time is good.

I think the issue on that other thread was more because the person had done the research and was being an a-hole to the dealer by toying with him.

I see nothing wrong with learning about the cars and even going to the dealer early to get any questions answered, perhaps even a test drive.

I started my research about a year before i purchased. Some was on the Internet and some was in person at dealerships. I looked at the gt500, GDP, ctsv and challenger. When it was time for my previous lease to expire, I had it all settled with what I wanted to buy. Went with the 2ss and I couldn't be happier. It's never too soon to start looking, cuz things change with time.

I started about 8 months before I pulled the trigger. I did though do a lot of looking around on the web for pictures and fun facts.

Once I knew I would buy one, it took me so long to come to the conclusion of what I would get.

You wouldn't believe how many days I spent flipping through the color charts to know what I was going to end up with. Then it was the engine, auto or standard...it goes on and on.

Once I sat down with the salesman to place the order, my wife looked at me and said, "I hope you're happy, you drove me and our daughter crazy each day with Camaro talk"...(Little did she know, it would get worse )

Even when the car was going through the plant for approvals, I almost called the dealer to see if I could change the color, but I slept on it and I'm glad I did. IOM is beautiful in any light.

Have fun and good luck!

I agree w/ the consensus opinion. Never too soon, and it isn't bad to take a trip to the dealership. Just be upfront w/ them and let them know your time frame, and that you aren't buying now. As long as everything is done in the context of mutual repsect.

If the salesperson you get leaves something to be desired, simply go elsewhere.

Timing is relavent to methodology, and harrassing salespeople is NOT a "preferred method" of doing your research, regardless of timing.
