The MC is also FWD. Both are the same car, just the MC is a coupe, and has a front fascia with body colour foglight surrounds.
The last time an Impala was RWD was 96, and the last time a MC was RWD was in 88. Just fyi. (the inversely mounted V8 also gives it away, just for future reference )

Hahahahaha, oops, I missed that. Dang, I didn't know the MC was FWD. Well, looks like we got somethin' in common

I remember seeing the new Monte Carlo for the first time while I was driving the Impala. I thought it was an Impy, then I kept looking while it passed, and I saw the rear, and I was like WTF! I tried looking for it on the Chevy site shortly after, but it's not on there.

Nope, 07 was the last year for the MC. It's done for now. The Impala was going to jump over to a RWD, but that idea was put on the back burner for some time. You should be able to interchange many parts with MC's and Impala's from 05-07. IE: front bumper with body colour surrounds!

Oh, no wonder. Bought an 07 Impala SS in November of 2007, too. Yeah, I remember people saying something about the RWD Impala put on hold because of CAFE. Supposed to make the change to RWD in 2010, I think.
