Really? Because while the HP levels of the 2010 Camaro V6 and the 2010 and earlier Mustangs are close, the torque numbers and weight are not. In a drag race, the V6 Camaro is still slower than the 4.6L V8 GT's. (In most cases, not all, I'm sure.)

I'm certainly not knocking the V6 Camaro, but reality and physics has to come into play here.

Huh? LT1 was from 93 to 97, so I'm not sure what your saying. They did get a bump in hp in 97 from 275 to 285, but it basically was on paper only. In 98 they did a front-end freshen up(which looked like a wide mouth bass by the way IMO) and added the LS1. I had a 97Z and loved the look of that car compared to the 98-02's, but the LS1 would have been nice to have in it.

i'm sure Jobs would love to work with gm now that the government has a stake in it........
Please. God. No.

Easier said than done. 200lbs is a LOT of weight to lose and not have to re-certify the car

I belive then next camaro will have a smaller engine but with more horse power and better suspension, gears and options. Gm has stuck with their same 3.45 gears cus basically they really did not have much competion from Ford speedwise with their GT model. Camaros/ Trans ams have always been way faster than the GT. This is the very first time that the GT has been able to beat the Camaro. So now the playing field has competly changed. Now GM has to change a lot of things to stay on top. So I believe that the major changes for the next camaro will be much better handling and suspension, higher rear gears, a better tranmisson and and smaller engine like a 5.5 or .7 that's rated at about 450 or so that's my prediction. So for those of you who like your big 6. plus engines don't wait for the next one. That's just my opinion what do you guys think?
The gov is not forcing GM to focus on fuel economy any more than they are to every other automaker that sells cars in America. The government does not have a hand in GM's product line they are a majority shareholder that has specifically stated all they want is for GM to make enough money that they can dump their shares and get out of the car business. They want nothing to do with building cars.

As for your second statement I highlighted thats simply not the case. It wasn't until the 4th Gen Camaro that the Camaro was significantly faster than the Mustang. In fact with the 3rdgens, they were pretty evenly matched even though the Camaro/Trans Am was available with more HP. A stripper LX mustang with the 5.0 was even faster because it was a lot lighter.

I'm sorry you must have made a mistake did you just compare the Mustang V8 to a Camaro V6? Tell me you didn't do that?

...and if he really was involved in its development, should't he be looking in the mirror every day when asking the question, "Just how is it that Ford caught up so quickly after one year of putting out a new product, and what should GM do about it?"
I'm all for good discussion, and I applaud Ford for keeping the flames of competition stoked. GM will have an answer...even if it's not until 2012. In the meantime, I'm having a blast modding my SS...it's like painting a picture of your own!
This guy, on the other hand, wreaks of thinly-veiled arrogance and smells like a troll, lol.

As to your roomier statement, that is false im afraid, the dimensions are almost exactly the same, and it has more space in the trunk.

About the live rear, you may recall Motor Trend and other magazines giggling about what they were able to do even with the live rear in the mustang. They couldnt believe it was actually a live rear, so it would seem as if Ford has perfected that technology and doesn't feel the need to fix what aint broke.
I got rid of my 2007 Mustang GT, because there just wasn't enough room in the cockpit. I got the 1SS because its much more comfortable.

almost a half second at the quarter is nothing to sneeze at. while i think a good driver in the Camaro could school an average driver in a mustang, take two average drivers, and the mustang will win consistently. :(
If you remember, when they started testing the SS last year they were getting trap speeds in the 112's with the M6 too. If your going to throw one set of times up ther throw them all up there. In fact, I just saw one in one of the popular mags(can't remember the name) that had the new stang doing a 13.20 @ 109. So, I can't base all my facts on that one test either. I really think you missed my point. What I'm saying is, on average and based on trap speeds we have seen, it should be a drivers race. I could care less which is faster, that being the Camaro or Mustang, because I own both and love both. I will have a better opinion on my claim when I see more tests where both cars go head to head on the same day, same track and same driver. That will help better tell the real story.
