Thoughts for the day camaro VS X

We all like to think of our car as the fastest on the strip. While this may be true in some situations the fact is there is always someone faster. Looking over all the comparisons on cars the one point in comparison we seem to miss is cost. For example the new Shelby mustang is 33K above the price of the GT. To compare it to a SS is an uneven comparison. I know for myself if I paid 55K+ for a car it better be quick. When the Z28 debuts by price it seems to be a fair comparison to the Shelby. Another good comparison would be Roush and Lingenfelter. Who would not want to see which builder builds a better car.
A comparison I would like to see is (base cost of car, real selling price, + X) were X is a amount of money to spend on modifications and then see how the camaro, mustang and challenger add up. For the average consumer this means allot since most of us do not have the deep pockets some of these mods can cost. Also, this gives a good indication based on initial cost of a car what can be reasonably expected.
Although no matter how you look at it these new cars a quick to begin with. When a V6 camaro is faster than a stock 67 camaro SS, with a 350. It shows how far the manufactures have come.
My thoughts for the day

you should do more research before thinking about things too much.

The price argument is retarded.

I do agree you can't compare cars that are stock that have significant differences in price. But I will never play the you can do x$ of mods to the cheaper car and outrun the more expensive one.

If going fast for cheap is critical you will not be getting a new vehicle. With the possible exception of sportbikes.

I like camaros, that is why I bought a new Super Sport and why I am on a camaro forum. If I was not mechanicly inclined and wanted to out run a GT500 I would buy a Z06 and kill GT500's and turdmanators at will with a nearly stock car. Fortunatly I like to work on my cars so I will tinker with the SS until it's performance fits my needs. Headers, check x pipe and 3" exhaust, check 3.6 LC Kennie Bell, comeing soon. I really enjoy working on the camaro almost as much as I am going to enjoy wipeing the smug look off of the GT500 and terminator crowd.

I can't wait for the Z28 to come out. Please force Ford to make the 670hp factory on the GT500s.

Then L99/LS3 destroy the Challenger and Mustang engines when compared with mods.

A camaro with a CAI/Tune/Headers, will destroy a mustang/challenger with the same mods.

a 2010, but we still don't know how well the new 5.0L
will respond to different mods, not until they hit the streets.
a CAI/TUNE could yield better number, on the 5.0L because of its superior
head flow. i find it ridicules to think the 5.0L is tap't out

We do know right now that a CAI/tune/pulleys/exhaust will net you ~450hp NA on the 5.0.

But that is the Saleen package. I will be interested to see the numbers people get out of the new 5.0L with basic mods.

Interesting response but that is not really true, with out thinking on price the comparison on cars is apples to oranges. It gives a basis for a valid comparison given both cars cost roughly the same price it then boils down to which mods were better. In looking at those answers one can conclude which company and products gives a better HP for the money spent.

I thought them 5.0 engines were nearly maxed out.

The LS3/L99 are good up to 600~ hp, without swapping out internals...

I'm curious as to how the 5.0 will do.
