not sure if you were aware, but the R/T's with 20 inch wheels and manual trans all come with the 3.92 rear end as well. i made sure to get the steep gears to get the big gal moving as fast as she can! not too concerned with top end speed.

Yep, but that's usually not the norm. Most have a higher rear end.
I've helped install a few 3.92's in R/T's, and you're right, it helps!

I wish the Camaros had a bit lower ratio.
I'm considering a 3.73 for my L99.

All R/Ts with the 6 speed and factory 20 inch rims came with 3.92s, all with 18s came with 3.73s.

do they offer anything lower than the 3.73s for the SS's? or is that aftermarket?

My car weighed in at 3873 with 21" and no mufflers. The R/T weighs in at what? 4010-4020? That's about 147-150 more lbs.

That's 150lbs lighter, with 400hp and 410tq, compared to 376~hp and 395~torque.

Yes I think I have you beat.

I've raced one at the track and the results are the same. I got him pretty good, so no, this is not just all bench racing and ricer math.

Aftermarket.
I believe the lowest stock gear available is 3.45.

But we're talking stock here, and with your mufflers off you're no longer stock.
What's the L99 weigh WITH the huge honking mufflers, another 80lbs.?
So pretty close in weight to an R/T. They're withing 50-100 lbs. of each other depending on options.

As I posted, in my experience an L99 vs an auto R/T will be a good run, with a slight edge to the SS.

How much do you know about the R/T you ran?
Was it a manual or auto?
All stock?

All stock 6spd.

And I didn't know a muffler delete made my car modded lol. Those mufflers MAYBE weigh about 40-50lbs combined, nowhere near the 80.

Bingo, take on an automatic and I bet you would be surprised. I drove an auto R/T and was shocked just how powerful it felt, from all the dynos and the times they are running they are definatly underrated. That said, I think there are 2 issues with the 6 speed from my reading and research, a somewhatlong throw shifter and the most major issue seems to be wheelhop.

lightly optioned R/T's with a half tank of fuel(cloth seats, no sunroof, no nav, no high end stereo, no spare etc) have been known to weigh in just under 4000lbs. some in the range of 3950-3975. not much less than what you cited, so you were close.

c'mon man, its close enough that the difference in driver weight could even things up!

and thats 410 torque and a little more than the 376hp that is advertised. have you missed the last 2 pages of this thread?

I've got the ones off my car in my shop, I don't have a scale but I"d bet they're 30 lbs. each, at least.
And yes, anything you do to your car performance wise makes it modded / not stock anymore.
You've got me curious now, I'll try to remember to bring my scale to the shop tomorrow.

I saw an RT on the road today and as he pulled up next to my V6 and chirpped his wheels at about 20-30 mph I just smiled and waved out of respect. That said, I still am totally 100% happy with my V6 TFE.
