Darin replaced the SLP LM2's with the Borla S Type on our car today and WOW! What a difference! Here is the video of he and Danielle driving off to go tuning. The video doesn't do the sound justice. No more raspy, uneven-sounding tone. And when I first turned on the car, I didn't cringe, waiting to get blown out of my seat by the noise. It's so much better. It's still loud and nasty, just not raspy.



Darth Emma, so happy you are getting your brakes finally done! I'll make sure to have Danielle take pics of your car when you are at CincySpeed. Her job is to be video recorder and picture taker.

There are many talented people out there and there are many that are not I have seen some things done that get towed in here to "Correct" that you just have to stop and wonder what part of that sounded like a good idea at the time

The sad thing is the owner typically ends up paying double what it would have been had they done it here in the first place. The nice thing (For the shop) is that they are almost always customers for life

This is so true. I can't tell you how many times Darin has had customers call him after porting their own heads, wanting him to fix them because they thought it would be easy to do the porting themselves. And it costs them way more than if they would have had him do it in the first place.

Wife and I are heading down to the Cincy Speed event on Saturday. Only thing that could stand in the way is tonight's weather. If there is still lightening tonight, then we have to work Friday night and won't be done in time to make the event.

Looking forward to seeing the Ohio crew again.

We just had that one a few months ago. The worst part was it took FOREVER to figure out what was wrong because he screwed up one side 10x worse than the other and we chased our tails trying to get the car to run correctly. Turned out to be a very costly "Learning" experience...

My husband and brother installed my MRT v2 exhaust Sunday. It's not something I could have done myself by far, especially since it had been welded before and that made the installation a bit more challenging. I at least knew what parts and tools to hand them when they asked. Wow, does it sound great! It's a lot louder inside the car than I expected based on the videos, but outside was exactly what I thought it would be.

Look forward to hearing it. It might help me decide which exhaust to get.

OK Jeff I get your point and yea, you quoted the wrong person, I think you were taking a shot at me, not 131. Anyhow, bolting in some springs, a set of sway bars or some trailing arms is not rocket science. I am quite confident I can opperate a wrench... sometimes two at one time and read directions... Lets state the real reason you don't like people doing pro bono work... it takes money out of your pocket and I respect that. Would I try to tune a car, port heads or install a cam... hell no, I'd leave that to the pros... BUT 90% of the stuff MOST people on here have done can be done in your own garage with basic tools, minimal previous experience and common sense. Nice dig you got on how you have had to fix peoples cars their "buddy" did and are now "customers for life" Don't worry Jeff, she's going to keep bringing her car to you... I am done doing freebies.

I do understand your point about easy to one and not the other, I am not too good at trying to get my computer working when it goes down b/c I just don't understand the concept. Could I learn, sure... do I want to, no, I am not into that kind of thing. I am into cars and it gives me much more satisfaction to look at the car and know I did a lot of the work on it instead of writing some guy a check.

Alright I am off my soap box... just dont come in here and insult my or anyone elses ability to try to scare people into bringing their cars to you. No hard feelings, I just don't appriciate a few of the comments you made.

what time is everyone going on Saturday? Is anyone going to be driving past me on 71? I'm not sure where it is, so if someone is going my way I can follow them. Do you think it will be okay to go if I don't do the dyno? I'd like to see everyone again and see all the changes to your cars. Darth Emma, I think your in the top with all your work..

No more? I was gonna get you to put the RED JEWL suspension special on my ride the next mod day.

I completely agree with you. I was good with computers growing up but my interest wasn't there. People excel at what they are good at AND what they enjoy doing.

As far as making the professional argument I have fresh experience with a Land Rover dealer. They sent me a $50 gift card in the mail for their service department. I am thinking sweet I can get SOMETHING done for free or almost free. Not so much. They charge $100/hour for labor and even an oil change is $110 after parts. Bogus!

Bottom line if I can do it by myself or with the help of trusted friends that's my preference. If not my next choice is a quality shop with fair pricing. IPS has fit the bill so far for me. No one is perfect though.

Lets put it this way... I am done saying "hey everyone, bring us you trunk full of mods and we can put it on for free..." I am sure exceptions could be made.

As far as Jeff and the IPS guys. I completely understand where they are coming from. Modifying cars is their livelyhood and be it a full supercharger kit or simply a drop in air filter, thats how they support themselves so part of me is stopping because of that. I have friends that are in the business and its out of respect for them. Also, after both mod days I went home feeling like a whipped dog for days!

I feel like I may have jumped Jeff a little hard and I hope there are no hard feelings. I just didn't really like how he discreditted my ability and made the assumtion that he'd have to fix the cars that I and others at mod day worked on. I would NEVER do something to someones car I wasn't sure about!

With that said, I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Have a safe trip down and tailspin... we need to get at least ONE V6 on the dyno!

The worst has been when he tells them their heads are junk and there is nothing he can do. They usually don't believe him and go to someone else who says they can fix them just to make a sale. Then end up screwing them up worse and in the end, they come back to Darin wanting a new set of heads..lol. That's the problem with the racing industry, you don't know who you can trust. Everyone is an expert. And with this economy, people will LIE to get your money. They have no conscious whatsoever.

Don't laugh, but Darin was talking about getting there at 8:00! He's that determined to get dynoed in the morning. Plus he wants to park close to the building.

If everyone shows up first thing in the morning to get dynoed, how are you going to determine the order? Do you have one of those ticket giving machines like they have at the Kroger deli where you take a number and wait to be served... In all seriousness, I hope you have a great turn out.
