Chevy gets wild and wacky with WTCC Ultra concept

Chevrolet Europe will launch its vision of the next-generation World Touring Car Championship contender at the Paris Motor Show on September 30. GM says the car was designed to celebrate the brand’s motor sport heritage and push Chevy’s styling language to the extreme.

The concept is truly a global effort: Ewan Kingsbury, a designer at GM in Australia did the exterior, while development work on the concept was carried out in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. The Ultra’s engine was built in Korea, and the prototype was assembled in Japan.

The aggressive looking beast is powered by 190 hp diesel engine. GM says the concept car further confirms Chevrolet’s commitment to the WTCC, in which Chevy has scored two wins and a third place finish.

interesting drawing. wonder if the concept will look the same. kinda reminds me of a cross between a mini cooper and that new dodge mini magnum.

Holy crap! That actually looks pretty cool! I betcha that thing handles like its no ones business. From the drawing to the actual concept, I'd say good job GM...and I'd like to see those on the roads. That's the kind of car all these import, rice burner junkies could go for...an american made, diesel powered, sports car.

That is really sweet. Too bad Chevy won't have the balls to produce it looking like that. If it's made it will probably end up looking more like the G6.

I hope that if it's built, they keep the exterior the same and don't let everyone down w/ a crappy interior. That's a pretty cool looking vehicle and would steal some of the imports "thunder".
