Past couple weeks. They have taken their website down, only thing that remains is a blank home page, and all their contact info is no longer valid.

Had a few issues with Elite Engineering but quality of product is most important and theirs is top notch. Works very well and ad advertised. Hope they get their other issues fixed for the future.

Thanks for the order. There are a lot of Catch Can options out there. Some are actually designed to do what a Catch Can is supposed to do, many designs do not add any benefit at all. When choosing a Catch Can here are a few things to consider:

1. Aluminum will oxidize, be sure all wetted surfaces are coated or anodized.
2. Does the condensing material actually remove the oil from the oil vapor before sending it back to your intake manifold?
3. Can the Catch Can be disassembled for easy cleaning?
4. Does the Catch Can have enough capacity to contain a sufficient amount of oil before in between each changing?
5. How easy is it to drain / remove the contained oil?

These are just a few suggestions when searching for the right Catch Can for your application. As mentioned, there are a lot of good options on the market and one statement that holds true in this area is "you get what you pay for",

Steve

In the case of Elite, it's true. Buyer beware (of other products).

I may have misinterpreted what you wrote, but what do you mean by that? I've had a very positive experience with them and their products.

I was referencing "you get what you pay for", and you certainly do with Elite's product. Sorry for the confusion.

I use Billet Prototypes catch can. I bought one for my GTO, then installed in on my G8 when I got that. Now I will be using it on the Camaro, just have to get it put on. It works great. Here is a picture on the G8.

Only ONE RX can!

The original designer of all the RevX products has totally revised the oil seperating can to improve on the design even further after several customers added suggestions.

1. It now is 2" shorter, so reaching the drain is much easier, and custom mount locations are a snap.

2. No more rattle from the metal PCV! valve, a new polymer check valve both meters the amount of flow more precisely, but totally seals against any back-flow or reversion. This is perfect for forced induction applications preventing crankcase pressurization when under boost.

3. The drainvalve now comes with an integrated nipple & drain hose so you simply place a drain pan under the car in the loction you choose to run the hose, open the valve, and no mess with spilling in the engine compartment, using a rag or small cup.

Test the latest release against any can on the market. Simply buy a clear inline 3/8" fuel filter from any autoparts store (the kind with a white mesh media inside), place it inline between the can outlet & the intake manifold vac nipple, run the car for a day with the DC can, and swap any other can and drive the same amount & the same manner. See the results in the filter material.

All that aside, any of the cans mentioned on here are far better than nothing, and do a very good job. The little Home Depot style air compressor units are the least effective of any. Most others on ebay, etc. are just empty cans with 2 fittings in. Vapors & the oil run right through with very little having a chance to get trapped. Same as a beer can with 2 fittings stuck in no matter how nice they look.

All the sponsors on here that offer theirs are very good and work well. The important thing is to run one, whichever you choose.

Seems, with vacuum air flow being the same through the units compared, the thing affecting oil collection ability would be the filter material used for condensation of the dirty vapor. Container construction material wouldn't matter, as long as it was not petroleum-soluble or heat sensitive. Oh, like in real life, size matters, too.

That's correct, the filtering media and the Catch Can's internal design. It's one of the reasons why we use a removable, cleanable stainless steel mesh for our filtering media.

Slowing the flow down enough to allow the oil to fall out of suspension as well as the cooling area to allow condensation of the oil to droplets is the key. Just think of a straw with fluid in it. When you blow through a straw the velocity of the flow will carry most fluids through, but if it has a large enough area in between the ends the flow slows way down, and little to no fluid will exit the other end. The smaller the can, the greater the velocity of the gases traveling through giving it less chance for the droplets to fall out of suspension.
