The people on this thread that say if the date is pushed out they're going to get a completely different car completely floor me. We're not talking about going to Blockbuster to pick up one movie and then picking up a different one because the one you wanted is checked out. No biggie. I'm not losing any sleep over five bucks. But here we're talking about around $30K! If I'm going to drop that much coin on something I sure as hell don't want to be driving down the road in my second choice and see my first choice drive by and thinking "man, if I had only waited one or two months more". It sounds to me like those of you thinking about moving to your second choice are just settling. I don't know about you, but I hate that feeling when I know I just settled for something. It eats away at me. Hope you can handle that feeling.

While I am definitely not saying "I'm done, I'm out", I am saying that if my car gets pushed back past July, I may very well tell my dealer to delay my order as long as possible without losing the chance to get one. If it looks like August/September and he can delay my delivery until March/April, that is probably the route I will go rather than have the car sit in my garage for 4 months over the winter. Maybe he can use it for a showroom car- sorry, I get the keys, during the winter months and we can work out a deal because of it? Who knows? We'll see over the next few months I guess...

Me as well I look forward to all the post from the father and all those from inside GM that are helping make this launch what it will be..... a success.

We know GM does not want to launch a lemon nor do we want ot own one.
Trying to stay positive that my car will still come this summer.

My wife asked last night if I thought I would have our new car this year but I had to tell her I don't know......the point made about pushing off some of the V8 orders till next year??????still sits heavy on the shoulders.

Thanks again father and all others for clearing up some of the nosense.

This is the reason why I have not ordered mine yet. I am a diehard CAMARO fan as it came out in 67 and I was born in 67. For those who can't see that this is the best forum out there please go somewhere else. I have finally signed up after 1 year of reading it and I am glad I did.

The Camaro is a 2010 model, normally would be available in October of 2009, if it comes before October 2009 that's great, there is still one year until the 2011 comes out. My G35 Coupe has four snow tires, right now it is in the garage because I have a front wheel drive and all wheel drive to drive, all with four snow tires. When I get my 2SS will I drive it in bad weather, probably not, but once the roads are clear, like the day after the storm it will be driven. We can all wait, after all there is NOTHING in the market right now to compare to the Camaro, so we would not be buying anyway, or at least with such passion.
fbodfather, please have a SS at Pittsburgh auto show that we can sit in.

(HUD, 3:73, white, more stripe combos, 'vert, less than MSRP, maybe other goodies)

Yeah...that's not going to happen. The V8 will be marked up for years.

Untrue IMO. They will catch up to orders given that the production year is really 18 months long. There will be, just like any other high production or "normal" as opposed to something like a Corvette, left overs by the end of the model year. If you're willing to wait until October 2010 or maybe a little before, you'll be able to buy one under MSRP as you would with any other car. JMO.

Ok, here's why I haven't seen a reason for everyone who's ordered an SS to panic:

Let me clarify first by saying the following: 1.) I haven't read all of the threads due to sheer length. So if this has been discussed already and I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

2.) I suck at math, but I did use a calculator!

Ok, here goes:

I don't see a reason to be upset over the V8's because of math, and simple averages.

We know GM will build 100,000 over the model year. Someone ahead of me mentioned an 18-month build year but by my calculations it's 15? (March of this year through June of '09, isn't that when the build would cut off?) Anyway, I'll allow for both.

So, with even a 50/50 build rate, at a 15-month build year and 100,000 total units, GM will build about 6700 Camaros a month. I can't remember if they'll go full production at first or not but for the sake of this exercise I'll assume they will. So with a 50/50 build rate that's 3350 SS's a month. With the 10,000 sold orders at an 80/20 distribution of SS's to V6's, that's 8000 SS's, which will take approximately 2.4 months to build, at full production. That puts the SS's into June, at the latest.

Now, even assuming an 18-month build year, with all else the same, GM can manage ~5500 Camaros a month. That's 2750 SS's a month, and about 2.9 months to build 8000, or early-to-mid July, at the latest.

Assuming I'm correct, I don't see any reason to panic! At least for those who pre-ordered, and assuming the above conditions do apply.

IMO you're pretty much correct. I did similar math and came up with August just because of the supposed push to initially get EACH dealer a V6 first.

That's a good point but Based on what Fbodfather said they will still produce at 50% so those V6's will get delivered first but that shouldn't delay buildout of V8's... I think?

Good points, both, I hope it doesn't delay it, but I don't think it will if my numbers are right, only because if they do stick at 50%, they will still be building the same number of V6's as V8s from my examples above, so they'll have their dealer cars within the first month at a 15-month build year and within the first month-and-a-half at the 18-month build year, and only about two weeks or so longer including the V6 sold orders. I can see GM being that patient to get those cars out there and keep us happy.
