A front is blowing through during the week and the weather should be absolutely perfect. Really really sucks that I can't make it.

Hey Mike,
We will be there!!
Last night we took Scarlett to Sealy and I tried to focus on my reaction time and my best time was .006..
Had a blast!! Looking forward to Saturday. Of course, Scarlett won't be running in the 9's but she will be there!!

anyone going to have an extra set of drag wheels and tires I might be able to use for a few passes.. got the brembos on the rear, this thing kind of snuck up on me.. Car should be making 600 650rwhp, Working on finishing it up this week, just in time for the race. would be alot more excited about racing if i knew i had a chance at traction.

I'm in the same boat, but nowhere near 600 yet. If you can work your launch you should be able to take home a trophy in the Modified Class. Once you put Drag Radials or slicks on you have to go in the Unlimited Class...

This goes for ALL drag radials even with the DOT on them.

But during test and tune it would be cool to see you on some sticky tires...

There will be quite a few first timers and also plenty of club members who can provide guidance... We really geared this one toward getting new folks out to the track so ask lots of questions and I guarantee you will have a fun time...

Oh yeah... check out the weather forcast...

I did my good racing weather dance this time...

First and foremost: If your on stock tires, avoid the water as much as possible. Just do a dry burnout to clean off and heat up your tires.

Second: Please dont spin your tires IN the water, then you'll leave water all over the track for yourself and the next person in line

There should be someone there to help you stage your car. Hopefully not the same impatient a-hole who was there last time I went.

If you've never raced at the track, sit and watch for a while so you can see how it's done.

Also very important: Never turn your air conditioning on AT ALL You will leave water on the track which can cause somebody else to lose traction and control.....Not good

If your running your a/c when you get there, let your car sit for at least 30 minutes to allow all the water to drain out of your car. It also helps to run the blower fan on high without the a/c compressor off(snowflake off)to help dry up the water. Every time something is spilled on the track they have to stop and check and clean the whole track which kills the fun for everybody

And for the sake of your 5th gen Camaro, if it starts wheel-hopping, let off the gas or you can and will break something(even if it's stock)

I'm not by far the most knowledgable person when it comes to drag racing, but I'll help with what I can

If you don't know, just ask. I'll help if I can

Hope this helps, Jrrod

Thanks for the help. This may sound silly... but i haven't burned out in my car yet. What's the DIY for a M6? Particularly on the track (as I am sure it's a bit stickier than a typical roadway).

Hey Pony Killer,

Having launched mine quite a few times, what works best for me is to stage, after a short clean em off burnout... Drive around the staging water.... not through it... Make sure the A/C is off, and as soon as the burnout is finished, close the windows...
First gear, (believe me I've seen many people dump on the starting line from being in the wrong gear...) when the first light lights up, rev it up to between 1800 and 2000, when the second light lights up, come off the clutch, aggressively, but do not dump it... play the throttle to stop any spinning, or most of it... and as mentioned before, if it wheel hops, get out of the gas and then you can get right back into it....

I would imagine for most classes there will be a three light system, each one half second before the next... As I said, try to come off the clutch when you see the second light lite up. If you wait until you see the last light, you'll be way behind the curve... With few of us ever having professionally raced, we do not generally have the reaction times of the big boys, and these cars while quick, are not going to jump off the line like you think...

Most of the L99 cars will smoke you off the line, but you can really run them down like a freight train on the top end.... Their times will be much more consistent, but you'll have a heck of a lot more fun... My opinion only.... no flaming...

I am so looking forward to this.... I am home from Brazil, had the oil changed today.... rar'in to go....

Since this will be my first time on the track, i may use the Launch Control just to get my feet wet. I've not burned out in this car... any pointers?
