I had that happen twice with my mom. When I was a senior in high school (1994) I had my eye on a new Formula Firebird. I think back then it had 275hp. I hinted and hinted about it and one day she said we could take a look at it. A few days later I drove it home, amazed. Then in 1997 when the C5 vettes came out I thought I'd try it again and immediately got shot down. One day I mentioned to her that the local dealer had gotten some new vettes in and she says ok, let's go look. Local dealer was a jerk so we wound up flying up to New Jersey and bought one at Kerbeck and drove it back. Her thought was that she had cancer and wanted to see me enjoy a few things before she was gone. That was an amazing trip and a great memory of mom. Sometimes parents can surprise you

Everyone thinks they're a better driver than they really are.
I know you're 16 and think you're worthy of getting a 426hp car for your birthday, but dont cross your fingers too much.

Sorry, but it seems EVERYDAY we have a new 15/16 year old who thinks they have a right to owning a camaro cause they got an A on a test and "know how to drive"

Well the driver did walk away with no injuries. This is a plus imo. Try doing this in some other car and walk away. I doubt you'll find many that can.

My dad loves the idea yet my mom shivers at it. She says when you in it it feels as if your in a bubble. Also the visibilty to her is quite poor. Any possibly convincing agruments?
Sorry kid but I'm siding with your mom. She's got your safety and best interest at heart. She doesn't want you driving around a powerful car with poor visibilty. She has a legitimate argument. Just wait, save your pennies and buy it when you're older.

Your posts make it hard to believe that you're second in your class.

For 20k, you could get a very nice, low mileage, 4th gen.

Sorry, if you are 16, do not get a camaro until you are at least 20... If I was your mom, no camaro for you!

Well a crash is a crash if it's going to happen it'll happen. I'm 21 and I understand how you want a Camaro for a car (hell I still haven't gotten one for myself) but being in school I wouldn't want one. The reason being is that you may be a responsible driver but what about everyone else at the school? Many kids don't respect other people's property and will mess with your ride. I drove my mom's 89 blazer with 5 speed while I was in high school and some kids would screw with it all the time. Not to mention getting out was a nightmare since nobody really followed any kind of law when it came to getting out of the parking lot. In other words, I would just want some kind of a beater car until I got out of school. With that being said, the camaro's good brakes and good steering (my gf's got one that I drive occasionally) can help you avoid an accident.

Hey if your mom is concerned about the visibility tell her you want to get a motorcycle, it'll be cheaper, more fun, and better on gas! That's what I ended up getting as a graduation present and I still don't have a car. It's not the ideal situation (cold weather is bad, but not as bad as pouring rain), but I'm happy for the time being.

Also I would say no matter what you buy, you're going to have blindspots, the Camaro's are pretty big, but the more you drive it, the more you'll adapt to it.

Maybe Some Help ?

Alright im 17 and i traded my tahoe in for a 2SS and this was my argument.
1. The camaro if you are gona get a muscle car is the safest between the three competitors and is the only one with onstar.
2. If their scared of the speed.. well the camaro dose do about 155 limited witch will kill you in a crash but a 2009 tahoe dose 105 and im pretty sure youl die in any crash going that fast witch almost everycar these days do at least 100mph.
3. Remind them how responsible you really are ( if you are )
4. You might be screwed on this one i think i might be alone but.... I kept reminding them that at the age of 13 i bought my first crf450r and have been racing MX sense at the age of 8 i drove my first car alone on farm roads. i grew up driving a Polaris 4x4. and at 16 i got to drive my uncles 360 modena around a track ( MSR RACETRACK Houston TX )
So i argued this with them about the fact im more than qualified. And even after all that ( im still very on edge with the ss the moment you stop paying attention is the moment you crash )

So you can use these points or some others to try to convince them but just rember As and Bs in school dont qualify you for a powerful ass car they qualify you for a collage at most. Good Luck

I dont think you can do much convincing.

I love that movie and that hooked my mom/Sister to loving the Camaro
I am the rare few teenagers who knew about it before transformers. I was telling my friends the new camaro going to be in the transformers movie and that was before they made commercials about the movie. Half didn't even know what a Camaro was but I made sure to change that
I knew about it before the movie I'm currently 18
