Removing the piston calipers
Has anyone removed the pistons out of the Brembo calipers on an SS? If so are they any different then old style brake calipers?
From what I remember you just slightly pry off the rubber seal and remove the piston. Is that all there is to it? I'm looking at powdercoating my calipers. I have a member from my First Gen club that is doing powdercoating on the side. His prices are about 1/3 of a typical powdercoater. However, I have to disassemble the caliper and put it back together. I'm not sure that I'm going to go this route vs someone that will do the whole thing for me but if it's not to hard to take them apart I might.

I always remove the bleeder valve then put a rag in where the pads go. Then blow compressed air into the hole where the bleeder valve is. This pushes the pistons right out. You dont need a ton of PSI either. probably 30-40.
I havent disassembled the Brembo's yet but Id assume they are similar enough.

Watching some videos and stuff it looks like that's what most people do. It also sounds like the fact that the car has less than 5k on it I should be able to pull off the dust covers by hand, then blow out the piston, then remove the seal. I guess my biggest scare is getting a replacement seal and/or dust cover if I accidentally screw them up. Going back in looks to be fairly easy as well. I'm just nervous because I've never done this before and I don't know how easy I can get things repaired if it goes wrong.
