Being a former owner of a GM Stage 2 Cobalt SS Supercharged (245hp), and now the current owner of a v6 LS Camaro ... I have some comments.
COST: When I went to trade in my 07 Balt SS for a 10 model, I was met with a $3,500 price increase (the new one listed for $26k, and there were NO rebates). I balked, so the dealer asked me if I was interested in a new Camaro. I said "Yeah, sure. You're kidding me, right. $30k?" He said "No, we have a 6 speed LS that goes for $23.5k". I said "Forget the Balt, let's start talking Camaro". ![]() WINNER - Camaro Performance: Drag Racing Launch control and upgraded half shafts weren't available on my 05 (excessive wheel hop and broken half shafts were often reported). The 08+ fixed that, but heh ... it's still FWD. Go to the Balt Forums and see how many people are actually turning "low 14" quarters. Not many ... WINNER - Tie Performance: Handling The Balt SS is a top of the line "all-out" midel, the v6 Camaro is the entry level model. No surprises here. WINNER - Balt Appearance/Styling: While the Balt is certainly not a bad looking car, there is no comparison. I drove the Balt SS for 3 years and got a few "thumbs up's" and a couple of "heh, nice car". With my v6 Camaro, the compliments never end. WINNER - Are you serious? And there you go ...
