You can be the guinea pig if you want, but I doubt it's going to work... The dye isn't going to wipe off the fabric like it does leather.....

Hey Smokin'. Did you try a Hobby Lobby store? The one in my area had all kinds of colors of the Fabric Mate dye pens. If I remember correctly, they had a very dark red. I got this photo from their web site and this is what the display looked like.
