Questions about Cut outs
I'm no stranger to cut outs just have a few specific questions about the v6...
If the cut outs are placed shortly after the stock exhaust manifold and before the cats will that cause an engine code when they are opened? Also what is the best way to run the wires from the cut outs to the switch that will be installed in the cabin? |

and i hate getting aftermarket exhaust because of the amount of attention it garners from cops, especially here in ny. cut outs sound good imo, i like having the quietness of stock then being able to unleash some power and hear that loud ass growl haha. |

I doubt there is enough room to install between the manifolds and the cats, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't though, you'll be throwin codes like crazy, and will probably lose torque.

I remember seeing enough room when I had it up there last but I could be mistaken. I think I'm going to go after the cats anyway to avoid codes. Dont feel like unplugging my battery after each time I use my cuts.

Just wanted to mention, if you get electric cutouts, they usually come with a manual toggle switch, but you can replace the manaul switch with a remote control relay.
We did this on my friend's Z06, and they work great. He can open the factory bi-modal exhaust, and if that is still not enough, he can hit the remote and open the cutouts.

I have QTP cutouts and they have a picture on their website where the cutouts are located: http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/OVAL/
I had a performance shop install mine and they did a great job and I love them. I bought the digital controller and the ran the cable through the bottom of my car into my center console so the controller isn't sitting out where it could get sat on or damaged. I can open mine in 10% increments up to 100% with the push of a button. I don't want to listen to the noise of the exhaust all the time so I have the best of both worlds. If I want to hear the stock exhaust I simply close them. The best sound is leaving them open 50%, you get the nice deep throated grumble of the big V8 but not so loud to be annoying. Russ |

I would not go with cutouts they all leak and stink. They never completely seal shut. Had them on my ss tried to fix them and couldnt. Worst product I ever bought for my car you lose torque too. Go with a full exhaust who cars if people want you car to shut up! haha

I am also very interested in this darkness...the ability to open and close them beats anything. Additionally, those who have installed straights on their camaro have not complained about it "sounding like ass." Obviously its not gonna sound like a v8, but I do not think it would sound bad either. Envy (the COTW) has them on her v6. Gonna work on contacting her and ill let u know too darkness

and the torque thing is really just a myth, ive yet to see a car make less hp/tq across the powerband with cut outs vs stock set up. regardless this is more of a preemptive mod as i plan on running nitrous later down the road. anyone who knows what their talking about with nitrous knows running an open exhaust sees NICE gains vs a piped system. but thanks for the location for the wiring. is it easy to run it up the center console? is there a hole in the firewall? |

And my cutouts were planned to go on this weekend until we ran into this cold spell. 9* is unreal for around here.
