"Bumpy" -- high duration, high lift, high overlap.

Honestly, Camaro5 is the best (Only) nplace to get your 5th Gen info, but it's the last place to get tech advice for existing models. Go to CamaroZ28.com if you have an LTx, or LS1Tech.com for LSx engines.

Nice, I always enjoy a new link with alot of information like that.

Question: What does R&R stand for?

FACT WRX STI is rated 0-60 at 4.9, LT1 camaro is rated 6.3. Camaro is destroyed off the line. (There's another relative term.)

FACT Power to weight ratio favors Subaru:
WRX STI: 3000 lbs. / 300 hP = 10 lbs. per horsepower.
LT1 Camaro: 3400 lbs. / 275 hP = 12.4 lbs. per horsepower.

Your camaro needs a boost of 70-100 horsepower (more than a few bolt-ons). A very good tranny as stated and a good torque converter, suspension/tire mods to allow full throttle takeoffs. Cheapest way is to spray it with a 100 shot, that would be a good race for 1/4. Of course you need more if the STI is modified.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully that's better than finding out other ways.
Hmm I think you missed this part in the OP.

CZ28's pretty good. LTXtech.com, Z28.com, LS1LT1.com are all good ones too.

The Subaru Impreza STI (formerly WRX STi, officially changed in 2006)[1] is the highest standard-edition trim in the Subaru Impreza compact car line, produced by Japanese automaker Subaru.

After seeing the Impreza WRX sell at much better levels than expected, Subaru began selling the STI in North America in the spring-summer of 2003 as a 2004 model.

but that begs the question... are we comparing a 94 camaro to a 94 subaru or a 94 camaro to an 06 subaru?

:( :( :(

That is my goal, when I have some extra cash, put it towards beating the heck out of his "dream car"...
My friends got one and if asked he probably won't admit it when we got on to an empty highway right next to work going home I could tell he was trying to keep up. My car is a LT1 was rated for 305hp 310 at the crank depending were you look from the factory. I did the headers(hooker comp) fast flow cats and magnaflow dual exhaust. Also added thermostat and KN filter with upgraded air intake. I'd say above 360 hp range. Needless to say he gave up.

Although I was specific with the Camaro (1994 LT1 Camaro Z28), it seems I generalized with the STi

Well, from what find, I see that:

1994 Subaru STi:
247 bhp @ 6500 RPM
(Anywone have 0-60 and 1/4 mile times?)

1994 Camaro Z28:
275 @ 5,000 RPM
325 ft-lb @ 2000
0-60: 5.7 seconds
1/4 Mile: 14.2 seconds
Price As Tested: $19,164

2006 Subaru WRX STi: (Scroll down for WRX STi specs)
300 HP @ 6,000
300 ft-lb @ 4,000
0-60: 5.4
1/4 mile: 13.6 @ 100
Price as Tested: $32,995

blaSSt: Could you please explain where you got 4.9 seconds for the WRX STi, and where you got 6.3 seconds for the Camaro, and what models are you talking about exactly?

I got the camaro times from wikipedia and theautochannel.com , and the WRX STi from edmunds.com. What moddels are you talking about? Maby wikipedia, edmunds, and theautochannel are completely wrong?

From what times I've looked up, doesn't seem like the LT1 Camaro is "destroyed off the line" when comparing the models stated above, unless the 1994 STi does better with only 247 BHP? Quarter mile: 13.6 for subaru and 14.2 for Camaro. Price wise: difference of $13,831 I bet you can do alot of mods with that kind of money.

Also, what would constitute "destroyed off the line"? Aparently from what I find, 0.6 of a second in difference? 2006 Subaru WRX STi 13.6, and 1994 Camaro Z28 14.2

I put the links in my original posts. All you have to do is click on them:

Magazine 0-60/1/4mile? 2006 STI 5.0/13.0 4th Gen 5.2/13.6
Dragtimes average 1/4 mile? STI 13.4 4th Gen 13.4

That makes it a drivers race. AWD on the STI gives it an advantage 0-60 off the line. 4th gens makes it up on the back end (if they got a good launch).

There have been a few factory freak 4th gens that got down to 12.8, but that also seems to have happened with Subarus also. (see link above)

It would be extremely complicated to calculate the details, calculus and such. Depends on shift points, etc. But, with some simplifying assumptions:

STI hits 60 MPH in 5.0 seconds, hits 103 MPH in 13.0 seconds.
Then it accelerates according to this equation: speed = -0.5096 * (sec)^2 + 14.548 * sec.

LT1 hits 60 MPH in 6.3 seconds, hits 97 MPH in 14.8 seconds.
Then it accelerates according to this equation: speed = -0.3494 * (sec)^2 + 11.725 * sec.

Distance travelled can be estimated by integration of the area under the curve.

Using these formulas:

After 1 second STI is travelling 14 MPH, LT1 is 11 MPH and 2 ft behind.
After 3 seconds STI is travelling 39 MPH, LT1 is 32 MPH and is 17 ft. behind.
After 5 seconds STI is travelling 60 MPH, LT1 is 49.9 MPH and is 42 ft. behind. (Over 2 car lengths)
After 6.3 seconds STI is travelling 73 MPH, LT1 is 60 MPH and is 64 ft. behind. (Over 3 car lengths)
After 13 seconds STI is travelling 103 MPH, LT1 is 93 MPH and is 180 ft. behind. (Over 9 car lengths)
After 14.8 seconds STI is travelling 108 MPH, LT1 is 97 MPH and is 200 ft. behind. (Over 10 car lengths)

STi quickly get into the 11's but that is about it. Their glass transmissions are a real hold back.

all the specs about a wrx are nice but i thought that he said it was just a regular sti so if it is just the regular sti then frankly i believe that he would have a shot...but the real question is why would you dump all your money into your dads vehicle rather than jumping onto like craigslist.com and trying to find an ss

So what is the difference between a regular STI and a WRX?
