Here is a point that no one has specifically pointed out. We've all be generically talking about whether ABL will be around or not and how it will be setup.

BUT, what about those folks who specifically order the Orange Interior with the special orange lighting? That is a paid option and change to the car from the "base" 2LT and 2SS......

Would it not be fair to adjust their pricing??

Its really not that big of a deal if its just the doors. Just my 2cents.
Does anyone know if it CAN be added in later? Either for free or for a price I won't care, as long as I can get it in the dash eventually (without buying another camaro).

I'd rather them retrofit for free, but I would not hold my breath on that.

As long as it's not the cost of another Camaro, arm, leg, or testicle, I'd pay to have it added later.

Yup....I'm one of those who specifically ordered the orange interior because I wanted the orange lighting along with my IOM paint. I'm sure that combination was in the minds of the designers when they came up with all these colors. It would look as if part of the package was missing without that lighting.
Did anybody notice if the dash on the Indy pace car had a provision for ABL? Or was the dash all one piece with no indent for the color panel etc?

I was told the same thing....the short guy, older, mustache. He said in the door only. Me personally, only, I am OK with it. I feel bad for those who really really want it though.

I wouldn't consider anything said by the people at the auto shows "official". They have repeatedly given out incorrect info in the past.Besides....its a light pipe...it would have to travel through the piece in the dash to get to the door.

As opposed to no information by someone "official". It's time we just start preparing for the worst as these topics are now months old. We'll slowly push the negative information out of them and then GM will deny all wrongdoing for keeping it a secret and letting people stay with a higher level of car that only stayed there for ABL.

You think I'm annoyed? Try the people who don't come to this site, saw the Camaro online and the ABL picture that's still there, and ordered it based around that picture. You think they're going to be pleased? This website is a big "GM group hug" everyday, where we all try to ignore shortcomings and faults by the General and focus on the positives. GM doesn't need to please us, 90% of you would buy anything they slap the Chevy Camaro name on.

However, the people outside the group hug? They aren't going to put up with crap, especially any from a company that needed and still needs loans to survive. GM, you have to do ABL right...one failure anywhere on this and other cars and you WILL be pounced on.

It's not that bad here. You'll find that many guys do bring up the negatives within GM on a regular basis. I am one of those guys and I never get my posts deleted by the moderators. Many moderators have also openly expressed their concern about some things GM does. Read some of Tags posts regarding ambient lighting. This would not happen at CamaroZ28.com as the owners there have specifically stated that they will not tolerate any negative discussion about GM products or processes even if they are warranted.

I was at the Chicago Auto Show last night.
I too was told at the show that the ABL was to be door only for MY2010, working to get it on the dash as well for MY2011 by one of the guys on the floor. Stated reason was quality / cosmetics. In hot environments the dash slightly warped. They estimated that it would take roughly 3 years. Not really an issue that you could see; unless of course you highlight it with a nice light bar. This gentlemen seemed very knowledgeable.

Before you ask, yes you can do accelerated testing to predict wear and heat fatigue in a greatly shortened time frame. You simply cycle the heat / vibration / etc by compressing out all the non-damaging portions of the load cycle.

Balance that information with this:
Right after sitting in the 2SS/RS (so sweet!) they had at the show a different floor person was answering questions from someone. He was asked about the gage 4 pack and what the top left gage is. I knew it was the oil pressure gage; not like this is rocket science. He answered: "I don't know why they have that gage on there because its useless. There isn't a supercharger on this car. It goes all the way to 70 psi because they don't want to have to engineer new gages for every car"

I was so shocked I was speachless. Then my fiance (who drives a Cavalier) called him out on it! It was 3-4 min before I could stop laughing!

I'm just waiting for a GM officials to come out of the closet and say is not going to happen so i could put in my order for the ss1.

24 days, 17 hours, 15 minutes, and 42 seconds left until the start of production for the 5th gen Camaro

I give them till march 1 if they haven't said noting by then its because they ABL is not going to happen. there will be no miracles after that no matter how much faith u have.

seriously GM is broke and is having a hard time launching the camaro, if they announce another delay on this car it wont surprise me at all.

All I can say is let's see what develops. No offical announcements may o rmay not be a good thign depending on where your stance is regarding ABL.

I for one would really like to see the complete package as initially shown. But, I will have to be patient to see what shakes out.
