Here's how it works......

You increase protein and healthy fats and remove carbs. After about two weeks your body will actually start to burn fat for fuel. Then you drop the amount of healthy fats your eating by just a little bit. This forces the body to use fat stores for fuel.

I did it for about 6 weeks and dropped down to 7.8% body fat. However like CFD said my muscles did look a bit deflated.....not nice and thick like a lifter but thin like a runner. I didn't like it. My 6 pack was kickin' though.

This method is pretty fast at cutting body fat. I think pro body builders use it for about 4 weeks before a contest, then the final week before a contest they eat lots of carbs to blow their muscles back up.

I think that last statement is right, but don't quote me on that. I've never had the guts to compete and don't have the genetics to do good anyway.

This method works for rapid fat loss but cannot be practiced long term. As mentioned in my post about the Atkins diet. The body burning fat for fuel is ketosis. The problem is it backfires, when the body burns fat for a long period and then carbs are re introduced insulin levels spyke, the body can only use so much then the extra turns into fat which is what your trying to burn. Using body building tactics are not the best for long term wheight loss.

Its pretty crazy to watch the transition, they look like totally different people the day of competition.

No Carb cutting, when practiced corectly, usually hasthe best results for fat loss, your body requires three food sources to burn fat and function properly, carbs, proteins and fats. The right ratios are equally as important. The reasons are complicated but these few basics from an earlier post might help. pg 56 post 139.

I was never a salt person to begin with...just can't handle food that's too salty. I much prefer to add pepper instead!

In any case, I am still doing very well...just happens to be that my maintenance is very steady...not gaining weight at all !!

Getting back into the swing of things after a week away from the gym...(not my call).

Did chest today and took some Jack3d to see how it would affect the workout. HOLY CRAP... I got 5 sets in and was like, I WANT MOAAARRRR....lol...then did set 6 at higher weights (for several workouts)

After the lifting, did the stair stepper for 20 min. Burned 1,470 calories in 1:58 min. God, that was GREAT!

Ok, I'm officially excited. BF showed 9.3% today confirming I'm single digits.

12/27/10 - 168.5 - 12.4%
1/10/11 - 166 - 12.1%
1/17/11 - 167 - 11.7%
1/24/11 - 167.5 - 12.2%
1/31/11 - 164.5 - 11.6%
2/7/11 - 163.5 - 11.2%
2/14/11 - 163 - 10.7%
2/21/11 - 165 - 11.2% (added back too many carbs - removed some also started thermogenic)
2/28/11 - 163.5 - 10.3%
3/7/11 - 163.5 - 10.6%
3/14/11 - 161 - 10.1% (carb pulse)
3/21/11 - 160 - 10.1% (carb pulse)
3/28/11 - 159.5 - 9.6% (carb pulse)
4/4/11 - 157 - 9.3% (carb pulse)

You guys remember I said I felt like crap last week. Well, I went home Friday night and had a Papa John's thin crust supreme pizza for dinner (carbs). Boom, I felt 100x better. I think I didn't pay close enough attention to how many carbs I ate last week and let them get too low. Also notice I dropped 2.5 lbs last week which is too much for one week.

I'm gonna watch the carbs a bit closer this week to make sure I'm getting enough. Workout today was rockin'.

I also ran a 11.79 at 121.89 in Orange Krush Saturday night. My goal has been 11.80s, so that helped put me in a good mood LOL.

Chest/Biceps
Incline Dumb Bell Press - 85/85/85 10/8/7
Flat Dumb Bell Press - 70/70/70 9/8/7
Cable Fly - 35/35/35 - 10/10/9
Incline Hammer Curl - 35/35/35 10/9/9
Incline Curl - 35/35/35 - 10/9/9
Cable finishing curl - 25/25/25/20/20 - 10/10/10/8/8

Time for another progress pick here soon I reckon. Pants are falling off, so that's a problem. I don't wanna have to buy new clothes.
