May clear your angry "tone" a little bit.
I'm not angry in the slightest...the "I'm better than you " kind of attitude..it's a public place were we can talk about what we love...not where we want to greet a new member comming off as gloating....

Anyways...enjoy the car and the stay..I'm done with this fiasco and have said what I needed to.

Wow.

Sorry to hear about all the grief you guys get, even the story tellers. If it bothers someone else then they're the ones with the actual problem, and sadly you get to hear it... if you choose to listen.

I'm not scared. I just try to ignore these ridiculous comments. I use this site to help me on the mods that I will do to my Camaro in the future. If people think I was bragging, let them think that. I already came to the fact that I was trying to find other people that are of the same age of me.

I agree 4 years does make a lot of difference, I completely agree with you. My family went from being like The Brady Bunch to torn apart and bitter all because of my dads death in Afghanistan. Trust me I know how the difference even a year can make.

However, you talk about how you grew up.. your mentality, maturity and overall outlook on life but you do not know this kids situation, mentality, maturity and so forth.

I was making an observation on your age difference and how the age of a 16 year old really isn't that distant from your own.

However, I watched this morning's "match" between young newcomer and the snarks. The young newcomer did come in proclaiming his age and that he bought his own Camaro and that he didn't want anyone to hate him for it. It wasn't really necessary to tell people how they should feel about you. It's like coming in with a chip on your shoulder. That is not conducive to starting a friendly discussion. BUT, I don't think he meant it that way at all. I think he was just trying to say hi and let folks know he is a young Camaro owner.

Then some of the locals picked up on that as a challenge to their manliness and they weren't going to be told how they're supposed to feel about this new persons age. THAT is immature and not conducive to a friendly discussion. You could have just said "welcome to Camaro 5." It would have reflected a lot better on the whole site.

I try not to respond to the snarky comments. There really aren't a lot of those here, but it only takes one or two to turn a thread sour. I prefer to take the attitude that perhaps they were just trying to be funny. It makes those comments a lot easier to take.

As far as classism... I am a woman participating on a forum dominated by guys. (I don't mind that one bit!) But, I have witnesses a lot of women bashing. Sometimes I was the target and sometimes it was women in general such as "women are so stupid..." comments. Whatever. I try to stay out of those discussions. They are usually juvenile (and not because of the 16 year olds involved).

We are a group of people who are all Camaro enthusiasts. We are all individuals with different backgrounds. We should treat each other with respect and come here to learn and have fun. Talk to people like you are face-to-face with them as a friend an not hiding behind some anonymous username. Life is too short to be mean or mad all the time.

Ok, nuff said. Sorry for the long post.
And as I may say, I apologizes for the forced attitude on my part, but note that I didn't make comments about him not deserving the car...my view is if you have then you've got it..jut watch the tones in the Internet and be less abrasive ( I know your not pointinganyo e out in specific)

Personally I think it's beautiful when young kids are getting this car just as much as older folks. Means the car is a hit and will have a future when it appeals to such a broad range and doesn't have to rely on just a certain target segment.

It's even more beautiful when people can stop using age as an excuse of why something can't be and realize age DON'T matter but the person themselves dictate what happens. I've seen 14-16 year olds that have been through and more mature then 50 year olds. My best friend had to raise himself and his younger bother and sister on his own when he was 13 because his father wasn't around and the mother was a drug addict. He paid the bills to keep the lights on and enough for a meal everyday. He is now 29 and in the same social class as me, which is a fairly high one.

So yeah that's why I say age don't matter, it's clear to see since we got people in their 30s and 40s here that act as if they are still in grade school.
