Isn't one of the cheapest way to get traction in a SS is to buy the expensive 18" C6 Zo6 rims and then drag radials. That ought to eat up a large portion of said budget. Sounds expensive and thats probably why so many SS owners dont own proper drag racing tires compared to all the mustangs I see with dedicated drag tires for pennies on the dollar due to the small 15-17"ers they run. Then kiss you stock IRS bye bye if you happen to have a dead hook if you didn't spend some of that money on that section of the car. Dollar for dollar the 5.0L wins Sorry

It just depends on what you like. I don't own a new Mustang or Camaro (I own an older Mustang, in the market for a new car) I have driven, priced, researched the aftermarket on both and here is what I have found..
-I have seen more Camaros than 2010+ Mustangs, even fewer of those Mustangs are 5.0s. -Looks are subjective. - Both take VERY well to mods -Sound is subjective, but I think they both sound good -Mustangs from what I've researched, and heard people say, seem to be easy to get really good deals on, haven't heard much about camaros. -Mustang performs better, it's very close, but the Mustang pulls out a win. -Mustang has MANY more options/packages (the gear ratios being the most notable) Bottom line is they are BOTH nice cars, perform great, and they both turn heads. Buy what YOU like, either way you won't be disappointed. |

If i had my way I would have a franken vehicle. Camaro body, 5.0 motor w/ the gm 6 speed manual and the ford live axle...
Personally I can fix the power problem as I already have see sig, so I went w/ looks and would take a camaro over a mustang for that reason.

Look at my sig, couple of boltons and a blower stock pulley on stock size nitto 555 Dr`s, stock motor high 10`s.. low 12`s w/ just headers, CAI and a tune, stock tires. Doesn`t take much to make them run, you just need proper part selection which sadly seems to be lacking in the 5th gen community.. As far as the IRS goes, mines completely stock and holds up to over 500rwtq and 1.64 60 foots dead hooking just fine.

You and your car are one of the few exceptions.
Nice car and keep up the good work. ![]() P.S do you have a link to these 18" C6 ZO6 rims for $170 that will fit the SS? |

BTW chuck wallace, your post makes no sense whatsoever. Over the past year I have owned the following: 1. 2010 Camaro 1SS M6 2. 2010 Shelby GT500 3. 2011 Mustang GT (still own) 4. 2010 Challenger R/T (still own) I guess I shouldn't expect you to be able to follow a user profile...

I don`t have the link handy but I think in the whell tire section there is a huge thread about the z06 wheels and links to the replicas.

In all honesty, there is one aspect where Ford beats Chevy hands down, and that is its Ford Racing program. They offer multiple upgrades and the ability to add components from the Boss 302 and GT500, under a Ford warranty program. If you find a participating Ford dealer, you can have these components installed before taking delivery.
As a Camaro SS owner, I have installed Pedder's suspension, Whipple Supercharger, kook's headers, and way too many others to list. Personally it has been a huge pain in the ass wading through all the false performance claims on the forums to find what works. Some of the mods I have tried, have been absolute garbage. These are mods that were purchased from respected vendors on this site. There is no protection when modding. Not to mention voiding your warranty. As a GM customer, one request I have is please develop a similar program to compete with Ford. Had the option been available, I would have bought my parts from GM. I will be deployed for the next 18 months. I am keeping my Camaro long term. But when I get back, I am seriously researching the upcoming 2014 5.8L GT500, because of Ford's support of performance mods. For the OP's question of Mustang vs. Camaro, do you intend to do performance upgrades in the future? If so, I recommend you take a good look here: http://www.fordracingpartsdirect.com...arts_s/236.htm |

Real simple for me I'd rather have a Hyundia than a Piece of Ford. I've had:
1966 Ford Fairlane, Its was a piece of junk, Had a 200 straight Six 1967 Ford Fairlane Ranchero, gave it a try, had to sell it because of transmission went bad 3 mths after buying it. 1970 Ford galaxie 500, engine smoked more than the bar maids 1973 Ford grand torino, 460 PI this car was so heavy it could not even get out of it's own way. plus the valve seals went bad. I've had nothing from Ford but junk. And I'm sure the Mustang is nothing but junk.
