Comp is going to warranty the cam and help out on the related parts.

Now I need to sit down with the installer to figure out how they're going to make this right. Hopefully it won't turn into a battle....

I've not dealt with them as a company directly -- but, honestly, I'm curious if that's due to them being a good Customer Satisfaction shop and agree + own up to the error -- or, like many other shops, have people on forums like this and have been following this thread..

Comp is first class on customer relations.

The lifter not coming out is most likely due to the lower protion being mushroomed.

The cam gear should always be checked to make sure it was seated properly....if the dowel was to long/not pressed in far enough it is a quick fix when doing the install.....any builder looking would have caught that. It's just standard practice to check along with degreeing the cam & checking PTV clearance (we do this on ALL cam installs) and also proper pushrod length and pre-load.

Hopefully the good news will continue after I sit down with the shop....we'll see.

I'm wondering if along with the pin depth, if it's possible the bolt wasn't torqued correctly as well.

Hopefully the installer plays nice....they're good guys...I'd hate like hell to get into a messy legal situation with them.

Thats possible as well. My conclusion is PTV wasn't checked and the cam wasn't degreed so after hitting the pistons (the deep "eyebrows" indicate contact over some time, you would not here it and the motor would still run good.) at high RPMs for long enough 1 valve finally broke (the pictures are good and thats how I arrived at this conclusion, I fix broken motors all the time from mistakes like this) and the rest of the damage came along with it. The debris in the intake manifold is caused by the reversion pulses carrying parts through to the other cylinders. Be very carefull in reusing the intake as some hidden embedded shrapnel can come loose later.

Thanks for the help.....At this point, a crate LS3 is going back in it...so it'll be a complete engine going in, top to bottom.

I'm going to hold off on any further internal mods until I do alot more research..alot more.
