Key here is current GT500. The current GT500 (2012) is not what the ZL! will be competing with, that will be the 2013 GT500. Nobody knows what either camp is truly bringing to the table yet, so it's all a big guess at this point on which one ends up with the better performance numbers.

I love my SS; But, my personal opinion is it should have been a closer competitor to the GT500, however, I'd rather have the Camaro vs a Mustang hands down. At this point in the game there are way to many Mustangs on the road, and I don't want to have the same car everybody else has. On a typical drive I'll see 1 - 2 other Camaro's, and at least 10 Mustangs. Besides, I haven't met one person Mustang owner or otherwise that don't give props to my SS.

![]() I would of definitely ended up with the SS if it had the strength and performed more on par with the Boss302. The L99 was also another big disappointment as it felt lazy and didn't blow my hair back at all on my test drive back in 2010 as my buddys stock G8 felt better and I just didn't want to spend a bunch of $$$$ in mods to make it competitive and personalized from the others I would meet at the track, dyno's and show's. I opted to spend an extra $100 a month on a GT500 which took care of both performance and individualism. If all the magazine testers can get the auto ZL1 to trap 120+mph w/o heat soak then I will make the jump back into a Camaro. I remember picking up a Car & Driver type magazine 4 or so years ago where they were testing heavy $100k ish performance luxury sedans and they were all running well into the 11's bone stock on stock tires by magazine testers. I expect stock 11's form all the testers from the next round of SVT/GT500 and hopefully the ZL1 because they are currently both capable of it with very little mods. 12's are so last decade and most of the decades leading up till now....its time for the big 3 to step up and give as 11 second muscle/pony cars. |

![]() That is the exact reason why I bought my 2011 GT500 PP in 2/10 because it suited my needs the best. Its the same reason why I bought a Cummins with a 6 speed manual as my DD and tow rig because it meet my needs not because of the way it looks. Same goes for my Toyota Rockcrawler vs a barbie jeep.

99% of us dont race everyday, so speed is never going to be #1 on the list for what we look for in a car. When it comes to a sports car, you want it to look cool. That is one of the coolest parts about a sports car, they sacrifice certain function for looks. Thus one of the main "functions" a sports car should have, is to look awesome. Camaro does that the best. |
