I heard a modified 6R140, but I have my doubts. However, the basic design of that transmission would translate nicely to a turbo-charged application. Time will tell if the rumor holds true. I can't see offering a turbocharged engine without an auto option.

I have driven both mustangs and camaros, both are nice cars, I like things from both...But from a performance standpoint I cant tell any difference, I REALLY doubt ther are very many that can. |

If you have followed those who give us hints of what is to come, you shall not be dissappointed, but probably elated that they will exceed your expectations.

When discussing upper echelon models of performance cars on the market, more of these buyers are the gearhead enthusiasts which typically favor one brand more than others. I doubt you'll get much cross-shopping between GT500 and ZL1 shoppers. That is more likely to happen with the V6 buyers, who are more swayed by visuals and not as much about performance. GT500 and ZL1 shoppers are those who are driven by passion for a brand or model. These shoppers are much harder to sway, and a simple HP output figure isn't going to do anything. Personally, I like the Camaro styling better. Especially the ZL1 styling. The newer Mustangs look good too, but I'm only liking the rear end about 20%. They messed up the rear end for me, but I like the front end better than the previous model. I owned an '06 Mustang GT previously, the interior hasn't changed that much since then. A little nicer, but sorta the same. Not enough to make me go WOW.

I guess I am one of the few. I am looking for the best performance for my money. To be honest, I like all the domestic manufacturers, I have owned and had good luck with Chevy, Ford and Dodge. So Corvette GS, used Z06, ZL1 and GT500 are all on the list when I buy next spring. It will simply be a question of, which do I like best, which has the best "feel" to me.

Not to split hairs, but nobody on this forum is going to notice 1/10th of a second faster lol.
All you have to do is miss your shift by about 200 rpm, and the "other car" is going to win. I don't care if you're in the chevy or the ford. |

These are the same guys that go around quoting 0-60 times, and asking you how fast your car can go. Magazine racers. I don't care about 60 mph, that is only 1st gear for most performance cars. They really should change the magazine benchmark to 0-100, since even minvans can do 100 now.

Move aside Camaro ZL1. GM better get it together
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...harged-v8.html
I have been reading this forum from the start. I have followed the z28/zl1 talk from the beginning. I am a true Camaro fan as I have owned many built F-Body's. I have always bashed Ford and mustangs in general until I rode in my brothers new 5.0 They have the shit together. The ZL1 better come out with some serious firepower to compete with a twin turbo 650hp Shelby. Let the flamming begin. |

There's nothing to worry about until Ford announces something. Besides - I believe the power the Shelby has now is borderline too much for the chassis, and unless they give as much attention to the chassis, all this power is for the naught. It's definately cool for bragging rights, but ZL1 is more than just power - it's a whole package, and it's difficult for my to really take the Shelby as seriously. I'm not taking anything way from that car, and they've made great improvements lately, but I'm not worried.
