From the original setup. One washer on each end of the mounting rod. Camera on loan so I can't take a pic.

Steve, the 7th post on this thread has a picture that shows that the OEM stud has a class 8.8 marking. Is there any data available that you could share on the 316 stainless stud to compare?

I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject of fasteners, but thought I'd ask after seeing this chart:

http://www.americanfastener.com/tech...ings_steel.asp

If I read the chart correctly, class 8.8 is equivalent to grade 5.

I really do appreciate the great costumer service of Elite Engineering!!! ... so, I apologize for the question.

The Hex Stud we removed on our 2010 LS3 didn't have any marking on it.

Can someone verify if there's has a grade 2, 8 or whichever marked on the Hex Stud?

Steve

Thanks for the quick response, Steve!

I just took a look at my car and was able to see a marking on the integrated nut of the OEM stud. There is a tiny 8.8 on mine as well. So, it looks like it is a ISO class 8.8, which should be equivalent to SAE grade 5.

In my opinion, this is the best option. Mount it to the Belt Tensioner bolt.

Will that work with my supercharger? I have a Magnuson TVS2300.

I ordered the bracket to mount it to the tensioner bolt.

I am glad this was discovered before my catch can had an issue. Thanks to the OP for bringing this to our attention.

According to page 9-1141 of the service manual, it looks like it is 50N.m (59 lb ft). - the first pic is for the V8.

What's odd is that the picture for the V6 also says 50N.m, but then in parentheses is says 37 lb ft. (see second pic.)

According to the torque conversion calculator I found online 50 Netwon-meters = 37 lb-ft.

So, I think there is a typo in the first image.

Thanks for verifying this information. The replacement stud we're providing is an alloy steel grade 14.9

Anytime, Steve!

Another question .... for the tensioner bracket solution, I see that the bolt that will be used has a 10.9 marking on it. Do you think this bolt on the tensioner needs to be upgraded to handle extra loading from the catch can? I see this bolt used for another catch can with no apparent upgrade to the bolt, but I thought I would throw this question out there.

The short answer, No. It's a different type of mounting, no Moment or Cantilever to worry about.
