Agreed. The long mounting rod goes bye bye so stress is almost nonexistent.

I've been lurking and taking in all the different solutions. IMHO some are adequate and one is questionable ( different material bolt ). I prefer the original location of the catch can and felt the original mounting method just needed some additional bracing which I felt when I first installed the CC over a year ago. I made up a small bracket out of 1/16" thick aluminum angle stock, a 3/4" insulated clamp and a SS button head bolt and nylon lock nut. As you can see the bracket mounts to the top thermostat housing bolt which is directly below the Elite supplied aluminum shaft stand off the CC mounts to. The installation is solid in all axis now so I'm confident this bracing will make the original mounting method bullet proof.

Ok, so I got my replacement bolt in from the dealer...turns out it is the wrong part number...it was his best guess as to which part I needed
Here is what I got: What I needed (number 6): Picture of alternative driver's side mount installed: I also painted the can black b/c it didn't match up exactly and the top of it had a few scratches... The parts guy thinks it might be part #12020833 instead...comes up as a "Lock-conn" pack of 10...I'm not so sure about that... Does anyone know the original size/thread of the OEM stud? I am thinking about looking for a replacement at fastenal....

FYI, the part number for the OEM stud w/ the integrated hex nut is: 11561117. Hope this helps those that need to replace the stud.
Also, the torque spec for this stud looks to be 48 N-m (35 ft-lbs). Last edited by Jet Mazinger; 07-12-2011 at 09:28 AM. Reason: added torque spec |

I'm still trying to decide the best way to mount on the non-op side. I would be interested in the new method from Elite.

L bracket mount.
Steve do you know of a company selling a bolt that is long enough to handle
the extra thickness of the L bracket mount off of the tensioner bolt? |

I had to do an alternate location because of my E-Force S/C. Here is a picture of mine. I have since painted the bracket red.
