Need guidance
I'm new to Mod scene... I recently purchased new 2011 v6 Camaro and would like to install K&N CAI. I read somewhere that I might need to enter anti-theft code after reconnecting the battery? and would disconnecting and reconnecting the battery affect my radio/xm/onstar?
Sorry for the inconvenience guys! -n00b! Charlie!

Not completely sure but I don't believe you need to disconnect the battery for an intake install.

Well, I never disconnected MY battery for my K&N CAI install, but I have disconnected it SEVERAL times for my headlight/HID mods, never had any issues with codes or ANYTHING, just reattached it and good to go-The COMPASS has to realign, but that's all..it even kept my radio settings...

however...any of you guys have any problem with onstar diagnostics after doing mods on the car?? logically in my head everything in diagnostics is designed for OEM parts, though not necessarily...just wondering.. thanks for your time..

You Do NOT have to disconnect the battery. They say that just as a cover their a$$ precaution. Slap it on...spray some water...and let her ripp!!!

Its recommended to take out the battery so that the computer can learn the new settings. But it doesn't need to be done. now personally I would go with cold air inductions for a cai. I considered the k&n intake but I liked the cold air inductions much more

Wouldn't worry about dissconnecting the battery. I've done it at least 5 times now for different mods (didn't dissconnect it for the CAI though. No need to) and I have never had a problem after reconnect.
Also I would agree with what KRJUICE and MENENDEZ said... Cold Air Inductions Inc would be my recomendation. A bit pricier but seemed sturdier than K&N and adds a nice look to the engine compartment. |

Hey guys is there a DIY writeup or vids that you can recommend that show how to do a CAI install?

With cold air inductions inc cai there really is no need to watch a vid. All you need is a socket set a screwdriver and if you don't have a heat gun a lighter! It is really really easy. I have had other cai's in trucks i had and i tell you what no cutting no messing around this is really made for the camaro. perfect fit!

thanks for all the advice guys.. I really appreciate it. Though I must say I'm sticking to the K&N for now.. but I'm considering induction in near future.
Croops.. engine compartment indeed! |
