Maybe that's because the Corvette ZR1 performs almost as well as a Lamborghini, but instead of costing between $400,000 and $600,000 like a Lambo can, the ZR1 is about $125,000. Maybe that's because the least expensive Corvette you can buy with a V8 costs $18,000 more than the Camaro SS, and you only get 4 extra HP with the Corvette.

Base Model Corvette = 430hp

There is a lot of inner car hate on this forum, V8 guys stand out. But, there's a lot less of it on this forum than others. When I had my G8 the V8 guys were relentless in our performance mod section. The standard phrase was "shoulda got a V8", it got so bad that mods had to suspend accounts.

I think a lot has to do with how while Corvette owners tend to be loyal to Corvette unlike Camaro owners they aren't necessarily loyal to Chevy. (or GM in general) So if it wasn't for the fact that the vette can kick the crap out of it's competition for a third their price. Some of them wouldn't consider it at all.

I have had 4 corvettes, I traded a 2007 c6 m6 for my 2011 camaro ss on Friday ! I still have a 2009 z51 corvette and a 1966 427 vette. I have nothing but love for my camaro peeps.

I understand most of the hate just surprised that people that would invest that kind of money into a very sexy car cannot bring themselves to rise above the childish stuff, ya know? and honestly, if the c6 is a tired body style, wow, just wow. to me it's the most beautiful corvette ever built, short of the 67' 427 which is my absolute dream car.

I love my cars immensely, I could not be happier with either one. by far my favorite 2 cars I have ever owned. and to be clear I have owned alot of cars. I guess thats where I become dumbfounded about all this. car people, especially chevy people used to stick together, not so much anymore I guess.

It really isn't so much actual hate but rather jealousy. What i have found is Mustang & Corvette owners alike were happy with Camaro being gone. This left the stangs at the top of the pony heap unchallenged for 6yrs. Vettes are not in the same class and want to be known as The ultimate American car.

Camaro came back on the scene and literally crushed any Mustang offering in it's price class. The sheer looks of the 5th gen won rave reviews all over the world and was a very hot topic everywhere for years. Where else could you get these looks for low 20's? Once they hit the streets people turned their heads away from Vettes and Mustangs to gawk over the 5th gen. Still do in fact. Sales numbers since production do not lie.

Face it, Corvettes are very much a look at me type car. Wouldn't you be PO'd if you just spent that cash on a shiny new one that can beat a 5th gen in every way performance wise yet nobody is looking at you anymore.

Nobody likes being knocked down off the perch and they become very defensive when they are.

The 5th gen is riding a huge wave a acceptance by the masses young and old alike. It won't last forever but, for now bask in the glow and just be happy that it's the Camaros time in the spotlight still. Challenger is turning some heads as well but not on the same level.

Maybe i have no idea what i'm talking about but, it is exactly what i have seen and heard on many occasions.

you should try rollin' up next to a bunch of Corvettes in a Viper. With the looks they give you, you would think someone told them you just had sex with their sister.

I love cars, so I have no hate for anybody's ride. I don't understand some choices, but I don't have anything negative to say. Lowriders? I don't get it. 24" rims? I don't get it. But, live and let live.
