Stealth tunes are out there. Putting CVNs back to stock and keeping flash counters stock, yep, those are out there. Trouble is, the tuners who do this do need to be careful about being too brash about circumventing the EPA or GM. Promoting it on a one on one basis with a customer they know makes a lot more sense than putting up an E-Bay page advertising it to the whole world.

the person I know who does it, doesn't advertise on ebay or that his tunes are "stealth"... he'll mention it if you ask but its not like he has a big sign up that says "Home of the Stealth Tune, F*ck you Gm!"

The question here boils down to an ethical one.

GM is not exactly the most consciencious company out there. Think of the recent issue with the Impala's.

But do two wrongs make a right?......

well I understand that, but when something not even related to an ECM tune breaks and they automatically void your warranty because of the tune, well, it goes both ways

i'm not one of those "i put headers, a tune, etc. on my car broke it and now want GM to pay for it" kind of guys as my car will probably void the warranty by a long shot when i'm done with it, lol... but Car manufacturers pull shady crap in denying warranty work all the time... it happens all the time where sports car will have a common problem yet dealerships want to play the "abuse card"... when multiple people are reporting the EXACT same problem, its probably not abuse... abuse is when uncommon things occur.... think of all the Ls2 GTOs that were popping axles under STOCK power and yet their owners were denied warranty work because of "abuse"... years later we see the IRS was an inferior setup which didn't need 400hp because the axles could barely hold it and couldn't if you drove the car to its true potential... abuse wasn't the problem, shit parts were

I didn't bring this topic back up to argue ethics, just that these tunes do in fact exist for the non-believers

I won't go into detail, will just state, that is no urban myth, as a former Cobalt owner, I knew MORE THAN ONE person with tuned Cobalts get HARD parts, i'm talking transmissions, engines, turbos, you name it replaced after flashing back to stock with "this guys"'s software, which does a complete rewrite, put back the stock CPN, resets the flash counter, you name it... GM reps went over their cars with a fine tooth comb and came away with no evidence of a tune... i'm sure they know something was up... but just no proof

and guess what, it works(or worked) on the '10 Camaros as well... and he's already devising ways of combating Global A(may already have it implemented, I haven't talked to him in a few months but he's supposed to be in Bama in a couple of months)... as a former Microsoft program designer who is now retired, he is no untrained tuner... he is basically an engineer that is on the car enthusiast side of the fence, lol

but any car that uses Tech-II as its diagnostics software, yes, his tune is 110% undetectable... and could possibly be with Global A, i'm going to do some more questioning on that note

*Edit*

I edited his name out because it appears everyone on here is upset on "defrauding GM" on something they claim can't be done

and for anyone who wants to take the challenge with any of his tunes, be my guest... your GM engineer nor anyone else, will not be able to detect never tuned vs rewritten back stock

finding the company is pretty simple, just find out the one company that A LOT of turbo Cobalt guys are using, because pretty much for those cars, its Hptuners or "this company"
Cobalts didn't have Flash counters, Camaros Do have Flash counters.

he can alter the flash counter as well... he seems pretty confident he'll beat Global A as well, I really don't care, my car won't be on the fence soon hopefully anyway, I didn't buy this car to keep it stock... but, if phony CPNs can be made, phony history caibration tables can be made to match stock, just saying...

I will say, if anyone cracks Global A, it'll be him... he was he 1st to unlock the Bosch E69 ECM tables, yelp about 6 months before Hptuners, lol

oh Hptuners had "some" unlocked... and they were wanting to know how he had almost all of them... he was the 1st to be able to adjust the Launch Control, etc... pretty smart guy

If everyone will stop arguing I can help. Look under the dash to the pasenger side of the steering wheel. there is a little trap door there. pop the cover off and remove the very small china man with the thumb counter. PROBLEM SOLVED.
