Memphis is a good stopping point for the first day. I make this trip at least once a year to Indy 500 and sometimes twice with additional family gatherings. Memphis is a good days dive and leaves about 8 hours the second day.

If anyone is interested there are a number of Casinos just south of Memphis in Tunica MS. Might be able to work out something with one of them like AJ did in Biloxi the first year.

Memphis:

If we take the I-44 route here's where we could stop: (this route has toll roads)

Muskogee, OK:

Day 2 Distance: 619.1 mi.

Springfield, MO:
Day 1 Distance: 666.4 mi.
Day 2 Distance: 483.6 mi.

I vote for the I-35 route, since there's no toll roads, and it doesn't touch Oklahoma

TAG and I made this trip back in 2008, and we took the I35 route... a lot easier than the I44 and, we thought, faster

oh, and IN for this road trip, too

oh, and we went all the way to Nashville on the first day, so all we had left was a short drive to Indy for the second day... gave us plenty of time to stop at the Corvette Museum on the way up.

Hey guys, I stay in alot of Crowne Plaza hotels with my work so I called the Crowne Plaza Down Town in Memphis just to talk to them and see if they would work with us and the said they would go as low as $89 for the night and the parking is gated and only accessible with a room key, and they have a shuttle to take us where ever to enjoy the area so the cars didnt have to come back out. They also said they could take care of us on the way back Sunday night. The Hotel is on I-40 right across the river so the drive couldn't be any easier... If this is something you guys and girls would be intrested in let me know so that I can get an approximate room count and discount code and all the fun stuff that goes into that.

Any list made or room count would not be an obligation to this. If we get enough poss feedback for this place I'll start a cruise thread and get the details lined out. The only time it would be locked in is when you called the hotel to make a deposit on the room to ensure your room is yours and we have until the month before the stay to have it paid in full.

Sounds great, I was just looking at the drive and Memphis seems to be the best point...
