I gotta rant here, just a little. I placed an order through my local dealership on Sept 5. Wow....one month later......things are really moving fast for me, still at 1100! No more BSing from them, I'm going in tomorrow and get my deposit back and order elsewhere. They won't come right out and say it, but I'm thinking that they can't get an allocation slot for my order?? Is this possible? Anyone else have this problem?

Hummm,..... My local dealer told me that he didnt have any allocations left for any 2012 Camaros but that GM allows dealerships to place "sold" orders for customers even though they do not have an allocation for that vehicle. He said that GM has strict rules that dealers must follow to do this though. He stated that the name of the person ordering the vehicle has to match the name that is going to be on the title or GM deals out pretty strict penalities to dealerships who use this tool and, "cheat" and places an order for a vehicle for a "fake" customer and then it ends up being titled to someone other than the name of the person who places the order. Maybe Becky can offer you some advise from an insider.

Starting July 26th, unallocated sold orders for
Camaro coupe and convertible will be processed
by GM - that means no more waiting for the
dealers to place them
This means once your dealer orders your car, GM will pick up
the order and process it. It may not get picked
up the same day, but should within a couple of
days of the order, unless the order has unbuildable
options or holds.

OK, how would anyone know of "unbuildable options or holds"?
After I learned that Imperial Blue Metallic was now available to order, I tried to place an order on September 12th from the local dealer. The dealer wasn’t able to order my IBM convertible in the BLACK TOP for the IBM color that I was waiting on all these past few months (late April) due to the Japan earthquake. Every time the sales person tried to put in IBM exterior with grey interior, the ONLY available convertible top color was BEIGE. I don’t want beige with Imperial Blue Metallic exterior and grey interior.
Anyway, the dealer “hand wrote” an order with the black top on September 13th. Three weeks have gone by and still no VIN?
What am I to do?

The order should have been placed even without
allocation Not sure what to tell you
