wanting to buy a 1998-2002 Camaro?? help??
I have dilligently been looking for a 4th Gen Camaro, ever since the 5th gen was unveiled. I am selling both my Mustangs for this reason(and the fact that I cant work on them, and the parts are so damn expensive) Anyway....
I have found a 1998 LS1 5.7L 6sp manual with T-tops for 6,000. is this a good price?? it needs lifters, apparently it has a tick after about 2-3 hours of driving. What do you all think? And maybe this, what would be a reasonable price to pay for an SS or Z-28 of this year. I want a nice one.

Well....Personally, I wouldn't buy a used vehicle that you are aware of having engine problems. You don't know if that's the true root of the problem. Then, you need this, that, and the other to go along with lifters. I just don't know. Also, $6000 doesn't seem bad, but we're missing some info on the veh. A major impact on price is how many miles are on the veh, has it ever been wrecked, how many owners, leather, t tops, Z28 or SS package, all listed options, where is it located, etc, etc.
I want to help you find your car. Before we begin, you need to let know everything you want in a Camaro. I'm talking full on everything. Year 98-02 Model V6, Z28, SS auto or 6spd t tops, conv, coupe color ext and int leather or cloth limit on mileage (must have lower than X miles) Finally, What your willing to pay. You might not get all of these things you want if you buy right away. But, if you wait long enough, someone will eventually be selling what you want. I'll help. Others might keep an eye out as well. I also have some other guys who can help. Let us know and I will do what I can. $6000 for that car? Don't know enough about it and I'd say hold off for now. |

Thanks tag,
every time I look at your camaro, I want to come steal it, lol, its just a very well maintained piece of muscle. here is what I am looking for: 98-2002 model year. SS, manual tranny, coupe or T-top (preferably coupe) Im a little worried about the seals leaking. black or red (exterior) color tan or black leather (interior) (preferably black) no more than 80,000 miles (seems high but I dont mind one that is broke in, just not broken down.) I would probably have to top out at 12,000-15,000. distance to travel for picking it up is not a problem, if its what I want I will definately go to get it. Also I really appreciate any help that you can give. And if you know any one that is interested in a couple of mustangs let me know 1969 Grande coupe (302 w/500+ H.P.) and a stock 1990 Mustang LX 5.0 convertible. I will send pictures if you know of anyone.

Too bad money is an issue. The local Chevrolet dealer has a Berger SS! They're asking about 30K.

I'm sure I can find something worth your while. Lemme get on it and see what I can come up with. What's your time frame? Do you have to sell the mustangs first before buying the SS? Also, you might want to check out some Mustang forums, join up, and post a for sale ad on them (if they will allow). Getting into a forum w/ them is a sure fire way to get your stangs looked at by those most interested in buying. I'm SURE, for what you're willing to pay, you will find something really nice. It might have some high miles on it, but you should be fine. Let me know that time frame on when you'll be ready to buy. Meanwhile, I'll start looking.

Almost just like mine! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem I know it's pewter and isn't leather, but I've always loved this color...my last Z28 was pewter! As with any of the listings I post up, I'd recommend having someone check out the car before going there. I'll post the info later on a company who does checks on veh's and does full extensive reports. This company did a check on my SS when I bought the extended warranty...good people. Can't remember the name right now. |

Ok, guys. Stop talking about this stealing my car crap. Anyone interested in stealing my car will have the opportunity to meet my two very good friends first....Glock and Kahr. :slice:
On a serious note, I most likely will have to sell in late 08 / early 09. Good news is that I purchased the extended warranty for it which is transferrable. I will post up on the boards when the time comes....:( |
