I believe it has to go to another Chevy dealer because the PDI still has to be completed.

You pay the tax based on where you live. I don't know exactly how it works though; sorry.

Basicaly if the money from the sale profits a New York dealer then they have to charge sales tax and forward it to the local taxing associations minus a service fee (ie. shipping delivery and such.) |

Like I said above, I don't think this is the case but the local sales tax is 8.75%

![]() I don't know I live in Alabama but I own a business so I know how the taxing of sales and service works for interstate deals. It also goes county to county. Some places are different in some cases but it's usually standard with state to state. You shouldn't have to pay sales tax from the receiving dealer because it's not 'goods' you're buying but service for them to PDI the car and receive the car. |

I just wiki'd it and it says you pay sales tax per the registering state. I can't say that's 100% positive because I've never done it. That is however what I believe to be true.

Yeah you are correct. I just called a Oregon dealer because they have NO sales tax. They said I would have to pay California taxes. Well NY and California have pretty much the same sales tax so it would be all about how much it would cost to get it here.

Wow, so the dealer who sells the car to be shipped has to send the sales tax to another state?
Or do they just not charge it and the other dealer charges it based on the invoice? What a pain in the ass. lol Ok then, sorry guys.
