Someone else's number...... that someone would be Ford.... if they don't know there own product enough to post the right number, how can you blame someone else for getting it wrong..... let's not split hairs, I think we all know where he is coming from with his point

Why hasn't/doesn't someone organize a side-by-side comparo with a '12 ZL1 vs. a '12 Shelby Super Snake? Aren't the Snakes rated @ 750 hp? Wouldn't that be interesting?! Put them through their paces on a ROAD COURSE...

wow youre taking this way, way too personal. i was just wondering how much he's actually weighed them himself since he works with mustangs.

Im not blaming him for the misquote. I just would have figured that he would know the actual weight of them. Im not bashing, im questioning it. As far as Fords site being wrong. that is also unacceptable and their website guy should be written up for that or something.

that would be interesting, but who cares about the super snake? im sure we'll see 100 ZL1's and GT500's on the road before we see a billion dollar stuper snake. Those things look like theyre geared more for car collectors than anything.

Does SVT or does Shelby do the stuper snake?

Well, if a ZL1 can kick the ass of a 750 hp Shelby, NOW, it'll certainly handle a 650 hp version THEN...

'Course, it wouldn't be the first time that BIG talk about BIG numbers was proven to be just that...BIG talk...

wouldnt it just make more sense (and cost less) to compare it to the 550hp version first and just go from there??

550 hp version is covered...in showroom-to-showroom trim...

Cost? In this Class you're concerned about cost? Manufacturers supply the cars, NOT the mags...

BTW, get a baseline for BOTH cars, on a dyno, from dealer-selected units for each. That way, you guard against "ringers".

Sorry it doesn`t live up to all the hype. The boss is more impressive IMO with less motor.

Prepare for MAJOR upset and butt hurt when they test it against the new GT500.

Blue oval guys are gonna have a holiday with ZL1
Wha, Wha, Wha. You have 2 choices:
1. Buy the ZL1.
2. Don't buy the ZL1.

I made my choice.

It is? I guess I missed that head-to-head comparison. You have a link? I mean, half this thread is people wanting to see that match up instead of guessing what the difference would be between the cars.

I firmly believe the ZL1 would come out ahead in all categories, but it's the margin (same day, same track(s), same driver) that interests me. I couldn't care less which one ends up with bragging rights, as the outcome will not put any money in my paycheck.

This.

GM should have just supplied a GT500 and put an end to the guessing. Im guessing the ZL1 would eek out a win on the road course but thats to be expected. The fact that they had a chAnce to pit the cars and didnt take the oppurtunity to smash the GT500 is disturbing though.

That's NOT the way mag. comparos work, Mauricio. Mags solicit vehicles from the respective manufacturers...who respond (or NOT) and supply THEIR version. So:

1) Was Ford asked to supply a GT500, and DIDN'T?!

2) Did Ford send their BEST and (ooops!) the result is what we have?

Why don't you get on your horse, head on over to MT's website, and ask THEM?!

Not really. There are a lot more changes to the 2013 GT500 than just more horsepower, and I trust SVT/Ford a lot more to put together a balanced, well engineered and well tuned package than I trust Shelby American to do the same.

Blasphemer!!

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?!

And what exactly is the missing word in your description above? 2013 _ _ _ _ _ _ GT500. You mean the car hasn't, or doesn't need to, earn that NAME?!

You mean SHELBY has "sold out"?!

For SHAME!

Something the FoMoCo folks haven't responded to is, given it was well-known that GM was publicly announcing/revealing the production-ready ZL1 in LA, why they chose THAT EXACT MORNING to reveal their plans for a 650 hp Stang?

1) Penus envy?

2) Abject fear?

3) Pre-emptive strike with a wickless molotov?

4) What?!
