just the fact tht ur debating between a 16xxx car and a 31xxx car makes the choice simple. get the camaro. u wont regret it. although, u mite want to look into an ss, or something with more punch(even though the new v6 camaro is almost equal to the gt.) ultimately, u will get wat u pay for. and yes, im extremely prejudiced, (i hate ford/mustangs) but even if it was like a diff. car of same value at tht price, id still get the camaro.

If you like the look and feel of the Camaro and have some patience to wait a little while buy the camaro. If if have no patience and price is a concern, buy the mustang! In the long run ot will be what you like and nothing anyone says will change that!

"don't worry about price"
Price is a big issue, ESPECIALLY when talking about the difference being near double. People make a HUGE issue about the price of an SS vs. GT500 (please do NOT bring this debate up, it is discussed enough already. I'm just using it as an example) and that difference is miniscule in comparison.

The Camaro V6 is twice the car of the Mustang V6. Even a Mustang guy would tell you that. However, I have seen the 2009 Mustang GT being discounted below $25K, so if the V6 Camaro is truly $30K as you say (hard to believe, but...), and you're considering a Mustang, you ought to look at an '09 GT since that is also in your price range. The Mustang GT would also be quite an upgrade in performance over your I35 (I know this because I easily blew past a G35 at an HPDE event at Lime Rock race track in Nov 2007).

That said, the Camaro is going to look a lot cooler than any Mustang right now. I wouldn't pay $30K for a V6, but I would definitely pay $35K for the SS.

xfilerguy,

I was in the same boat as you. Looked at the Mustang V6. The price is very attractive. Unfortunately, it's really not much of a car. The 210 HP engine is cast iron and inefficient as can be. It gets something like 25MPG and is underpowered for the car. That's not just my opinion, the car mags all say as much about it.

Looking around I found the Camaro. The 2LT V6 is the perfect combination of price and features for me. That said, why not take a look at the 1LT. That would only be around 25K. You still get the look, performance and better MPG but for 9K more, not 15K more. Makes it a little more reasonable.

Good luck.

i think everyone on here would be saying something different if they were in your shoes...if your not a die hard camaro/chevy fan (which it doesnt seem you are because you are considering the stang, that isnt meant to offend you or anyone else) then the mustang is a no brainer, imagine how nice you could make that stang with the extra 15k . That being said, i would go with the camaro because i am a die hard camaro fan, but if your not then go with the pony.

Well its really about how many extas you are looking for on your car. The 2LT that you are looking at for 30,000 is FULLY loaded; Boston Acoustics sound system, heated leather seats, heated and autodimming driver side mirror, autodimming rearview, OnStar, the nice RS package (with HIDs, 20 inch rims, spoiler), 4 pack gauge cluster, and don't forget the awesome Ambient Lighting! How much is that Mustang going to have compared to this?
