Jack up my car for the first time. I bought a jack from Harbor Freight and it works great. I jacked up the from from the center and then put jack stands on each side. I was doing the Air Scoop install.

I would also recommend using a hockey puck on the jack so you don't leave any marks!!!

can also use plasti-dip on the jack cup and the jack stands. I don't like using wood, etc inbetween car and jack/jack stand- on the off chance that it's not exactly centered straight, etc, it's another point for it to fall.

What do you guys think about these? I do own any equipment at all to jack up my Camaro..would the below suffice? Also I would need 4 stands in total, right? Thanks!

That jack is not going to work, it not low profile (therefore won't fit under the car). I'd go with something like this (this is what I have) and have had no issues at all: http://www.harborfreight.com/25-ton-heavy-duty-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-68049.html Last edited by nyrfan; 02-23-2012 at 11:21 AM. |

I like to drive up on short lengths of 2 X 10's just to get a little added height to get the jack under and better visibility.

I got these picks off of the forum long ago but thought they might be of service here. I do not agree with the very front cross member. The second one appears much stronger.

I use the cut outs on the four corners as seen in those last pictures. They're right on the edge of the body.

i am wanting to install a skip shift eliminator. could i just jack up the rear driver's side, secure with one stand, and climb under? looks like i may not get enough height that way. just seems like a lot of trouble to completely jack up the front of the car to do this.
