Sorry everyone for writing what I did. Didn't mean to kick up a shitfest and denigrate anyones hard effort, and more importantly make things harder for Mace who have been putting their uttermost effort into producing these cams. Sorry to tracy for my comments also, they were uneducated.

Take it easy.

so...back to the CAMS at hand.

i talked with a local speed shop this weekend about getting some head work done (for the camaro). he quoted me $1300(plus another $350-400 for heads) and couldn't guarantee anything other than it'll take a couple weeks due to R&D, which is to be expected. but seeing how they are a speed shop that is all about 8 cylinders...a lot to do with the LS motor's, i walked away not feeling to hopeful. im sure he would do a stellar job...but i'd rather have a guarantee for that price.
simply put, to me it comes down to cost and performance. with tracy's joint effort between MACE and Brodix, i think they'll provide the best combination of aftermarket head support to match the CAMs. the most disappointing comment the engineer made was "in my opinion, you're going about it backward. if i were you, i'd do the heads THEN find a CAM to match. but it can be done the other way around too."... it didn't ruin my day, but definitely swayed me from investing my money into a "possibly, i don't know cause i've never worked on those heads before." kinda of decision. matching heads to the cams is something Tracy is already working out...so hopefully a product sooner than later...
could a new intake manifold be next in line to boost performance with the heads and CAMs? more plenum volume and longer runners?

keep up the good work guys...and thanks to the both of you, Tracy and Steve.

I guess what I am asking is would a set of cams come with 24 new "tappets" all of the same thickness or a giant box of different thickness "shims" that we would have to set and check and swap till correct? We used to stock dozens if not hundreds of shims to set the valves on our suzuki outboards.
They'll be set shims for the install. So there is no need to worry about any mixed bag shims with various thicknesses to contend with

Fantastic. I always hated shiming valves.

Yeah I am sorry too kuzman, I got a little worked up and jumped you pretty hard. I know Tracy personally and it just set me off. Hopefully we can move forward as a group, as we really all are on the same team.

No hard feelings on my end, I hope you stick around for the great things about to happen for us.

The reason COMP aren't interested is that they're probably not stupid enough to do so from a financial perspective, they're not a cheap to develop, vs sales volumes. Us being emotionally attached to these engines, are on the other hand. Is that a good thing? I suppose time will tell, as whether or not I'm sleeping on the couch will depend on it's success LOL

I think if it produces some good power and are priced right, you could be looking at a gold mine. I know I would rather stay na than go fi at the moment and if these produce enough power to where I can be happy, then I'm buying them. Then, I could even pair them with some fi in the future if i so wish

I believe you guys can grab the cams now if you don't want to wait for testing

So scrubby, cams are def in your future? Can't wait to see your result since you actually have the cylinder head's inlet and exhaust side ported. You might as well finish it out with the bowls and angle job while you are at it
