This was something which I believe Scott S. had mentioned very early on.

define right away. I've pre-ordered a lot of things, and I've also kept in contact with the manufacturer about the official release date. same thing with Starcraft II, it was supposed to be released in december, then they bumped it to April. I've had a preorder for nearly a year now and they still push back the release date. granted, the price difference between a game and a car is extreme, but the process follows the same lines.

Please post the dealership you attended the IDL at so that they can be reprimanded by GM. The information in that broadcast was GM confidential and customers were not permitted to view it. We should know. One small clip was posted by a dealer as part of a larger video of them yapping and GM demanded that it be pulled down immediately. Most dealerships didn't even watch the IDL. I know mine didn't. The whole idea of an IDL is antiquated. I mean... seriously... a satellite feed? In this day and age we have a thing called "the internet" (you may not have heard of it yet) that will allow people to "broadcast" video for relatively minimal cost. Maybe someone at GM should give this internet thing a try. And as I posted at the time, why couldn't they make this a webcast where customers could watch? Or have another webcast so that we don't have to pry information out of dealers. Oh what, you going to tell me that explaining the situation to customers goes against state laws too?

This isn't Scott's job. It's John or someone else on the Camaro team's. But, Scott is filling that role since they are evidently unwilling or uncapable of doing so themselves. I've had enough of listening to BS. Look at John's post on the fastlane blog. A bunch of beuraucratic crap. But how come he can post that in the comments of a blog but not on here? Or another enthusiast forum? Doesn't make sense.

and

Guys, stuff like video games are not a good analog to this. Both sides really shouldn't be using it. They can produce a billion copies of a game in no time flat. They also don't have allocation systems to mess with. But on the flip side, if you preorder a game, some guy can't walk into another store and get that game BEFORE you. That's what's happening here. The same thing would happen here if you're out of town... the dealership will (or should) hold your car til you get back.

implied meanings dont mean squat, just because you didnt understand the meaning and didnt go thru the trouble to find out yourself, doesnt mean that someone else is at fault. its all in the fine print. a pre-order is just that. a pre order. its an order made before the product is officially produced/distributed. in no way shape or form does that guarantee you the first one off the line, or the second, or the third. all that means is that you are guaranteed the product when it is produced. no-where in the preorder agreements did it say that you would get your car 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4338th, etc. it just said that you would get your car. Scott has already said that they plan to have all sold preorders filled by Oct (if not sooner).

some people on here have been waiting since Oct 08 for their car.... ive been waiting since Feb 02 for mine. yeah, the wait sucks, and bitching and complaining about it makes you feel good for a short time period, but crimany people, grow up. I hope all of you get your car tomorrow and come back on here apologizing to everyone about how much of an ass you have made yourselves look. seriously, this is whats wrong with this country. no one wants to have patience and deal with everything in stride.

Consider this folks, you have 15,000 preorders, each uniquely defined and optioned to individual tastes. I am no mathematician, but conceivably this could result in 15.000 different cominations of options. Add to this the Dealer cars (some 6,000 or so vehicles) and Some cars for dealer stock, which takes away your ability to get exactly what you want should you elect to go that route. Assuming you build two additional cars for dealer stock, we are looking at 33,000 vehicles pushed into the pipeline. That is basically a third of what GM was intending to build at the time of announcement of this vehicle (Ed Peper and Bob Lutz were hoping for 100k vehicle sales each model year to sustain this car in production).

So, what we have here is pent up demand, anxious people, production combinations which really end up blocking similar models together during production.

As I have said in some of my other posts, the manufacturing of any automobile is a complex process. Those of us who have plunked down our hard earned cash, are expecting to have a vehicle the way we want it, not to pick a compromise from dealer stock.

Before I close this out, I must express my disappointment in the fact that this does not register with folks on here. You are getting the car the way you want it. AS long as it meets the third Quarter timeline we have been told, it boils down to our collective anxiety and impatience.

Since this is the first vehicle I have ordered to spec, in my lifetime, I am equally as anxious about when it will get here. The fact is, that It will get here when it gets here. That is the way the world works.

I will have a New Camaro, equipped the way I want it not out of some dealer stock order. That is something for which I am truly happy!

This is the most ridiculous argument I've read. Fine print?!?!? Seriously?!?!? If if it did exist, which it doesn't, how shady is that? And yea, implied meanings certainly do mean something. Especially when there's no information to the contrary. I encourage you to go back and find either official documentation or a post by one of the GM employees explaining the allocation and preorder system. Here's a hint: you won't find it. Go look at those posts I linked... I tried to get clarification and was told to "PLEASE STOP!" What the hell else am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to fly up to Detroit and show up at Cheryl's doorstep?

I never expected to be in the first hundred or even the first 5000. I just expected to be ahead of orders that came after production started. Even still, I wouldn't be annoyed if a few made it through. But a solid chunk of the deliveries weren't preorders. Scott also said "we want you behind the wheel as quick as possible." Please tell me how building all these other orders is going to accomplish that?

So today a member who ordered in FEB gets his VIN, congrats to him!!
Meanwhile, Guys who ordered in oct/nov/dec/jan are still waiting.

How can anyone say that it's OK for that to happen.

I am a gamer so I will use your analogy.

So in your analogy take this perspective. You pre-ordered StarCraft. They push back the date.... it finally starts happening the game is finished and the server is launched and everyone is very excited.

The vendor (Blizzard) states that it is going to ship all of their initial copies of the game to Wal-Mart instead of fulfilling the pre-orders. Preorders will get their game after we have fullfilled our legal contract obligtions to Wal-mart.

Would you be pissed and just go buy it from Wal-Mart ?

Would you curse Blizzard?

Would you be pissed at the place you pre-ordered?

This is a video game compared to a car. But to be honest the video game industry is doing much better then the automotive industry.

Not one person on this site has stated that they want their car first before any other person here. We are willing to wait for those in front of us. To sell to Dealer Stock and Rental Companies (another good analogy here ... game is out but you have to rent it to play cause you can't get your copy yet) is absurd. We PRE-ORDERED in good faith, make those cars first is all we ask.

Cars on the street is better advertising then cars on a lot.

If I find a car at MSRP on a dealer lot I will cancel my pre-order and buy that one on the spot regardless of dealer.

Here is why I am pissed I ordered Oct 10th no car in some lot somewhere waiting because they messed it up.. But here is why I ordered a bunch but the 2 after mine are still at 3000 and then the 4th one ordered long after Oct and long after the first 3 and the 4th one now has a VIN and will show up before mine or the other 2 are even built how is that fair. I am not saying I should get my car first because I pre-ordered but as a dealer should I be delivering a 4th place preorder before the 1st 3 and no there were no constraints on those orders.

Can anyone explain to me why my car has been at 4B00 for 6 weeks now.
Dealer says they can't do anything about it.
