Mike, Can you explain if allowed what goes on during the QC procedure for each ZL1? I'm sure some of us would be interested.

just a quick question, and believe me, i'm as anxious as anyone to get my car (ask my poor wife), would we all be more patient if gm actually told us that there's a problem with the brake system of the Z, or there's a glitch somewhere that they're working out? Instead of saying a generic, we want the car to be perfect before the customers receive it? i think i'd rather hear of an actual problem that they've encountered and that they're correcting. thats just me

Is there any specific date in March that was unique for the original ZL1s delivered to Gibb Chevrolet in Illinois or something that GM may be doing a coincidental mass dealer/consumer delivery and announcement to honor the ZL1 moniker? (that falls after the QC finishes).

I just did a quick search and can't find any delivery dates in March '69 .....oh well, I tried to keep hope for you guys that there might be a unique date in mid March

I don't really note the tone of these threads some much as bitchin' vs. just anticipation. In reality, most of us want the car presented from Chevrolet as near perfect as possible and as the adults that we all are, we would not enjoy multiple trips back to the dealer for adjustments or repairs. I will say that I enjoy this website and look forward to the clever posts. Now, I'm going to have some Lucky Charms, watch some cartoons and read more threads!

The first two 1969 9560 COPOs were delivered to Gibb Chevrolet just before midnight on New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31, 1968.

I really have no burning desire to know. This all falls into the basket of pre-launch product validation for a new model. There really is nothing unprecidented taking place here. It just so happens to be a launch during a time where there is rampant mis-information and speculation bounced around the internet. We will know something in due time. And when the car finally does arrive it will exceed our expectations. Just knowing that they are taking the time necessary to get through their launch procedures, despite pressures from the market, makes me proud to have one on order. I know this is going to be a great car.

I say shame on anyone who didn't think this was going to happen.Especially if they did their home work and researched what happened back in 2009.

Yep, fix 316 and make it ready to travel. I still have a few things to do in the garage. I am all good with the fix and the wait.

One significant fact exists for us all regardless of where we come out in terms of delivery of the ZL 1, or GM communication thereto; the undisputable fact in which we can all take solice and pride in is that virtually ALL and EVERY article written on the ZL 1 has been not only glowing in its descriptive of the car, each message has used every discernable positive adjective to describe each and every aspect of the ZL 1. I have subscribed to countless automotive mags and typically read everyone I receive, cover to cover. I cannot remember ANY car from ANY manufacturer (save for BMW 3 series) that has been so positively reviewed by every writer. Read about the CTS-V, the CTS Coupe, the C6 when initially delivered, any GM, Ford or etc. The biggest ding the ZL 1 has received pertains to weight and interior fit and finish, and those two have been softened by each writer. Wow!
