Sat in a V6
OK guys, as most of you know my VIN number is 590, currently in "quality hold" in wherever...
Henderson Chevrolet in Henderson (just outside of las vegas) got their 2LT V6 in on friday and they had it on display. (Just so you know I didn't take pictures because the salesmen "didn't allow photos to be taken" so whatever...) (they were also selling it for 5k over MSRP and the dealership in Centennial Pkwy was selling theirs for 10k over MSRP!!! At anyrate.. here are my thoughts... Leather seats.. : Can do without them! infact, glad I got the 1SS... the cheap buttons that are used to hold the seatbelt strap in place looked worthless... Rearview mirror.. : The view out the back window takes about 20 percent of the full view of the mirror, there really isn't much vision at all, I mean, I suppose there would be enough when it comes to who is behind you and when you plan your merges, though the view really doesn't give you anything except 100 ft. of visibility distance behind you.... Seat Height, I'm 5'10" 300 lbs. the seat was comfortable to me.. and even if it had the sun roof, I still had plenty of room... (I really did not like the looks of the car with the sunroof.) Door handle: I thought the placement of the door handle inside the car, to OPEN the door was in an odd spot, felt I had to reach past my knee to open the door... Overall... I can't wait for my 1SS! and I can't wait to tell you all about it! Hope this helped people who ordered the v6... I think I can manage with practice and a learning curve how to manage the crappy visibility through the rear view mirror... I am absolutely sure it'll be a great car! |

I think the headlight knob is in a strange spot. You have to really reach to get around the steering wheel. Do not like that. Other than that I love the camaro interior. I dont Understand why people think its cheap. I really like it.

I just thought I'd come in here and share my experience. I also sat in a V6 (RS) at a local dealership (Bellevue Chevrolet-Hummer-Cadillac).
I actually liked the little seatbelt-loop things, they seemed like a nice classy touch. I was blown away by how little foot room there is in the back with the front seats all the way back - my daily driver is a 4th gen, and my wife can fit behind me with my seat all the way back. In the 5th gen, it's just hilarious to imagine. Be ready to scoot forward for any passengers. On the plus side, I'm 6'4, 230 lbs, and there is plenty of room in this car. Headroom, legroom, everything felt great. It's a very well proportioned car and there is lots of room to scoot the seat forward if you need to. The side windows are shorter than any of the pictures make them look. What the reviews say about feeling like you're in a pillbox is true. In general, I actually really loved the interior. The controls felt rubbery in a good way, not hard plastic like the 4th gen, and almost everything was good. The cupholders are a joke. Anyone who has ever drive a 4th gen manual knows that the console cupholder is next to worthless, and the 5th gen's only two cupholders are in the center console behind the shifter (unless I missed something). That means no rear seat cupholder, no swing-out passenger cupholder (one of my favorite touches from the 4g interior). Basically, where my 98 has three usable cupholders, the 5g has none. But that's okay, you shouldn't be drinking in there anyway! Lots of trunk space with the seat down, I was impressed - not as much as the 4th gen, but better than I expected. Overall, the high belt line makes the car look a lot bigger than I thought. It's not actually that big, but it looks and feels enormous. The halos are great in person.

I agree with Succendo about the leg room in the backseat. I'm only 5'10" and with the driver's seat comfortably situated for me, there was nearly no leg room for the back seat which was disappointing. As big as the car looks, I thought there would be more room. Other than that, it's a nice setup.

I got to sit in two different Camaros today (both 1LTs). I even got to take one for a drive. I have to say that I disagree with all the reports that visibility in this car is bad. I was expecting the worst, but I was plensantly surprised with how well I could see outside the car. The side mirrors are really wide so you get a very good view of what is behind and beside you. I also thought that the rearview mirror visibility was good. I didn't get to get on the car much, but the power was impressive. The car felt very solid and hugged the road even at low speeds. One last thing that many people have commented on negatively is the exhaust note on the V6. It was started right in front of me and even at idle I thought it had a great sound for a V6.

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone who discusses the seats is a large by huge person. By now we know the seat is wide enough to comfortably fit huge guys but I'm skinny and I'm getting worried it will be far too wide for me.
