Removing tar from your paint!
Does anyone know of a good way to remove tar from your paint. Luckily it's not on mine.
My son left work yesterday and they had re-paved the road in front of his shop. He had no choice but to drive through it. It is all down the sides of his Silverado. Ya he's mad. Anyway, I know of most things that will remove a little tar but this is going to need something strong. (it will take more than bug an tar remover to get this off).Any suggestions out there? |

Make the street Department pay.
If they won't, get a product called Tardis. |

Tardis, tarminator, or kerosene. Tar x also wouldn't be a bad choice. It is on bogo at AG too.

The best thing I found that works is rubbing alcohol.

Thanks for the replies. I will tell him to try to find some of these products. I know how hard it is to remove tar. I was trying to find something that would make it a little easier.

Gasoline on a rag to get the tar off, wash with soap and water, dry and wax. I know some of you just cringed but I have done it a few times with no problems.

I used some adams all purpose cleaner cut 1:1 with water and it took road tar off. I know lighter fluid you use for the Bar-B will work...of course wash off both right away and then wax..same with WD...they do make a goo-be gone for paint...do not use the one that is not for paint...man that is a bad and no way they should have let traffic on that freash of a lay down..

Turtle Wax makes a Tar and Bug remover product that turns that stuff to mush and wipes right off... works great for cleaning off the VHT and rubber from burnouts at the track too..

I ran over a can of spray paint a couple years back and just wetted the area in diesel, let it set 10mins....it wiped off, washed with soap then waxed it. All was good.
