I am impressed with this stuff. I did the SS intake slot, front fascia, and bottom of my front bumper. I found the plasti dip spray at lowes for under $6. It took two tries, and I still want to re-do the intake slot.
After reading this thread I understood to take the tape off as soon as possible, and not letting it dry. The youtube videos I watched said to let it dry 30 minutes between coats. I think that works when you are doing raised emblems, but when its just on paint, you want to black it will leave you with torn edges.
The first time I used newspaper, but thanks to whoever recommended the trash bags.
I really like the way the car looks. And it's a great way to try out a look before getting vinyls or having it painted. I may do my SS rear emblem too.
The plasti dip matched my flat black stripes very well. In this pic the stripes have a light dusting of pollen over them & the pics aren't the best, I took these with my iphone.

Thoughts on dipping the beauty rings?

So far I've plasti-dipped my bowties, taillight bezels, and the Camaro lettering. I'm still debating doing the beauty rings. Any thoughts/opinions?

This is what I'm looking into also. I did my spoiler last night and it looks great. Want to do the lower grill blackout thing but need to find out how my clear bra will affect this.

I'm thinking of trying to get a clear bra sample swatch and put a few coats of plasti dip on it and see how it looks after u take it off.

I'm thinking it should be ok, the clear bra is like a plastic film, and all plastic is porous, but it takes a long time for things to sink in. By that time plastidip should be dried already

I tried painting my mail slot and it turned out into a huge disaster lol. Yours came out great. What kind of tape did you use?

You want to use blue painters tape and you have to peel the paint off right after you finish the last coat.

Try this out, take a new razor and etch the front bowtie along the center where the two pieces meet. Then pull up the corner and pull the outer edge off. Gives it a black center. I like the look a little better. Just a thought.

I'm still up in the air about doing the beauty rings too.

I'm probably going to do it tonight and maybe take a picture or two if I do.

awfarley: I'm working on the beauty rings now, and I honestly think it's going to look better with no rings than with black rings. I'm going to finish the side I'm on and then compare, but chances are that the plasti-dip is coming off. Then I'll have the option to run black wheels or with the silver ring. The stock wheels look a little funny without the rings, but it's passable.

I just used basic masking tape from lowes. You just can't let the stuff dry. Pull it off as soon as possible after your last coat. And I waited maybe 15-30 seconds between coats. They're are still places mine pulled because I wasn't fast enough, but the front fascia turned out so good ( and was much larger ). I have to try it again.
Another tip: use a fresh can or clean the nozzle well. When I tried a redo the next day the nozzle was clogged & I got huge drops of paint coming out.
