Question for the New ZL1 owners
First off let me say congrats to all of you. The ZL1 is a beautiful car and I wish you all the best.
The question I have is regarding the ZL1 active exhaust. In the next couple of weeks I will be ordering a 2013 2SS/RS and am looking for feedback on the ZL1 exhaust. As you know, this is a new option on the 2013 SS models and I was wondering if you have noticed any drone issues? Perhaps the exhaust stays closed while cruising at "normal" highway speeds and drone is not an issue. Thanks for the feedback... |

I've read there's no drone but don't have practical experience :(
Good question - I'm interested, too

I understand that while cruising, the exhaust only uses one outlet.
I heard absolutly NO drone when Becky took me for a ride in her new ZL1. I DID hear her giggling everytime she pressed the gas pedal tho. |

well i dont know about the zl1, but in my z06, i have the NPP exhaust, which is similar to the ZL1. when you are cruising around its fine, when you go passed 3000 rpm, is when the flaps open.
i added the mild to wild exhaust, which opens the flaps all the time. when i am on the highway with the flaps open it will drone, but i just close the flaps on the highway and the drone is gone.

How much does the option cost? I only ask because there may be quite a few take-offs for sale soon.

Not an option - standard equipment for the ZL1.
We don't have any pricing yet for 2013 and probably won't until closer to the June production. |

They are standard on the ZL1, and the pricing for the 2013's hasn't been announced yet.

Now that many of you have had the chance to rack up some miles on your Awesome ZL1's
Loud enough when you want it to be and vice versa? I've listened to many videos on-line but nothing in person. No drone issues? Thanks again......

I have to say that the exhaust on the ZL1 exceeded my expectations. No drone at all. Loud when you want it to be, quiet when cruising. The idle is great, and after it warms up it ieven has a bit of a cam lope sound to it!
