To easily remove overspray that you can't peel off, like specs. Use a clay bar. Comes up in one swipe.

So when you guys plastic dip your bowties and the camaro emblem do you remove it or just put tape around the outline of both of them and spray it? Just curious. I'm going to home depot tomorrow to pick up a can or two.

I put tape and newspaper around my bowties. Really makes it easy to take off.

That's a great idea. Never would have thought of that.

I did finally lose it and ripped off the dip from the driver's side. It was close but it just wouldn't do it for me. I did leave the center caps dipped temporarily just for a laugh though and I still need to actually remove the wheels so I can really clean it and dig out the dip from the lugs (one at a time and with a borrowed jack and wrench, mind you). That, and the whole passenger side is still dipped.

Maybe I'll just call myself two-face. Depending on which side of the car you look at, it could look stock, or blacked out. If I take it all off, I still have the passenger front with the curb rash I'd need to deal with. Local repair place charges $100 a wheel for repairs, repaint, etc. Decisions...

Biggest thing I've learned from this is in the acronym YMMV. Here's a look at the full passenger side, before I go ahead and rip it all off too. This side actually does look good but anything would at that distance from the lens and it being flat black. You can actually see the circle of over spray where I actually improved the parking lot surface below the front wheel in the pic (before I tried the grocery sack mask step and trash bag drop cloth).

Just Plastidipped my rims last night. I will be redoing them as I made mistakes, but I'm fine with it for a few weeks and REALLY like the look. My problem was I put it on too lightly (needed more coats) and I put it on unevenly (needed more plastidip on the insides of the spokes). Did 3 coats each rim, allowing a few minutes in between. I will be doing 6 coats next time.

Anyways, here's my progress pics followed by a ton of pics this morning!

Decided to take the rims completely off

About to wash them all by hand

First layers going on. I used index cards to keep it off the tires, worked perfect and I was able to get the lip of the rim as well

Drying (still glossy) vs original!

The deep spot was a big ding I got in the rim the day before. It looked horrible and luckily the plastidip hides is pretty well.

First shot lowered back down!

And now for all my beauty shots, be prepared for photo madness!!! Took a TON of photos to show you in different lights such as direct sunlight, shade, dark, etc.

Epic grass photos!!!

This is why plasti dip is so great.

Decided to do my roof, since i was planning on doing it in vinyl anyway.
Had it on the car about a week, and tomorrow ill be taking it off as ive decided i don't really like the look. So this just saved me a couple hundred bucks from getting it done in vinyl at a shop.

Here is a pic.
It dont look too bad in the pic cuz is kind of dark and it matches the back glass alot better than in real life. I just dont like the matt against the shiny glass or the way it looks when viewing the car from the side.

Any one know how to take the radio face plate off? I want to plasti dip it.

I removed the silver face plate that goes around the shifter (and/or contains the temp gauge for those of you that have them). I removed the two screws at the bottom of the radio face plate that are visible once the shifter face plate is removed. Now my problem is that the radio face plate is stuck behind a lip that seems to be attached to the entire plastic piece that goes over the drive shaft tunel.

I hope my explanation makes sense. I'm absolutely stumped, been trying to remove the radio face plate for a full day with no success!!

Good question. I'll be cleaning my rims for the first time when I get home.
